A PPV Campaign Making Me A Consistent $150+ /Day
Here's my first giveaway!
I was hesitant to give this one away because it was a longterm campaign of mine! ..but it's so easy to get started and so cheap i had to show it to you guys so you can start making money quick without hurting your bank accounts! It's a great one too because it can be scaled horizontally, so you all can take this one and start making some money!
Quick definitions:
Scaled Vertically: Taking a campaign and scaling it by using the same idea.
ie: growing traffic sources
Scaled Horizontally: Taking a campaign and scaling it by multiplying the idea.
ie: taking a campaign your doing with cameras, and scaling it by moving it to printers as well
So this campaign has made me a min of $150 a day for the last few months and i've only run it on TrafficVance.
The campaign idea is creating a custom question people can vote on, and displaying an email submit as the prize. I'm going to use my Justin Bieber campaign as the example since it yielded the highest profits.
Some days i spent $4 and made $40!!!
1000% ROI! (just with this bieber campaign)
My Campaign Idea
Was Justin Bieber Discovered on Youtube?
[YES] or [NO]
*Get a 2011 iPhone 4*
My PPV Targets
I targeted EVERYWHERE that was Justin Bieber related.
- Do a URL scrape and find all just bieber targets.
Some scraping ideas:
- Justin bieber photos, Justin bieber lyrics, Justin bieber youtube, Justin bieber myspace, Justin bieber tickets, Justin bieber concert…. leave nothing out. An extra hour of targeting will be the difference between $4/day ad spend and $8/day ad spend, which is either $40/day or $80/day!
My Landing Page

Scaling It Horizontally!
This is the real beauty behind this campaign idea. It's 100% ENDLESS! I've tried some celebs who didn't profit at all, but most do, and some profit BIG! You don't just have to do celebs either, you can do "fake personalities" such as dwight from "the office", or chefs, or brands, or pets. The more creative you are here the more profit you will make per campaign and the longer your campaigns will last!
Matching Your Offers With Your Idea
Remember who your targeting demographic is and match the appropriate email submit. If your targeting Justin Bieber, then your demo is girls 13-20, so make sure your email submit is a pair of ugg boots, not a free dinner at Red Lobster.
Scaling Vertically!
This is always the beauty of PPV! Once you get a campaign or 2 profiting on 1 PPV source, move it to another. I highly recommend Traffic Vance, MediaTraffic and CPVDirect. (Let me know if you need a referral!)
Another Angle To Take
I've been successful promoting this campaign idea with a battle landing page.
Battle landing page example:
Who Has Sold More CDs?
Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus?
*This way you can target twice the amount of URLs and sometimes it yields better returns because people are passionate about "their" celebrity!
Take this campaign and scale it first horizontally! Then Vertically!
Ask any questions you have here, enjoy!

Whenever I try a campaign like this on Trafficvance I get rejected with this response:
No logos or trademarks can be run in the creatives to deceive the user. This needs to be removed. Thank you for understanding!
I've cloaked, to get an ad approved and then they shut it down a few days later...How are you avoiding this?

Is that a youtube video playing or a picture? I've never done PPV, but I've heard you can have videos automatically playing or something.
I tried getting in TV before but they asked how much I spend on advertising a week and because I didn't spend 10k a week they didn't want me in. They still like that?

My hunch is that it's an image. You can autoplay video though, it's usually done by adding a querystring variable in the embedded video url. In YouTube's case, it's done by adding "&autoplay=1" to the embed url.
Getting into trafficvance isn't so much about how much you spend, but who refers you. To my knowledge, they require a referal by an active advertiser to let you into the network. That referrer can now be punished for any wrongdoing that you do on the network, such as cloaking... so the referrals are a bit harder to come by now a days. I think you can get one from EWA though, if you're an active affiliate with them.
Good luck.

Great idea, but how do you keep from getting scrubbed with the email submits?
I have done a ton of email submit camps on TV and they only ever last for a few days, then conversions go way down to where it's not profitable. How do you avoid this? Thanks!

Were you mentioning YouTube? Might want to put a different spin on the poll to see if you can get it through without branding it as YT.

Switch networks, get multiple accounts from the network you're working with, or just build a profitable enough campaign so that even when the epc tanks, you'll still remain profitable

Nope. It's a picture of Beiber and says "Are you smart than Justin Beiber? Take our IQ Test and find out!"
I got flagged for using his name...

This works great for other offers besides email submits as well! It's funny your example campaign was Bieber because I've done the same thing except my offer was a mobile love crush type offer and my LP was along the lines of "Does Justin Love You?".
Also if the offer allows I-Framing you can build some continuity between the offer and the LP (this really boosts conversion rates). For example, I've done it with IQ Quiz offers where you can build continuity between the LP and quiz. So if your LP was "Are You Smarter Than Obama?", I would build a custom header with Obama and I-frame the IQ Quiz so it relates the LP to the offer.

Didadel:
I've had TrafficVance block 1 campaign of mine, vie never had any other campaigns blocked, but i know they don't allow any trademark infringing and they're pretty picky.
As for the campaign above their are no logo's, and if your saying they won't allow the pic of Justin Bieber, then i'd tell you to cloak. I use this landing page and others with celebs on them without cloaking just fine.
Mugga:
It's just a pic (screenshot), not the vid.
I'm not spending 10k a week, and i was never asked that question initially. If they ask you when you reapply, just tell them it's affiliate marketing and you have the budget to spend way over 10k a week when your campaigns are profitable.
jpgmagic:
I took the visitor straight to the offer. Iframing usually produces better conversions but after multiple split tests it was profiting less and i think it was because of loading issues. So i recommend directing them to the offer from the landing page.

Keep from getting scrubbed with email submits:
1.

2. I do batches of network split tests. Say the offer is email submit for Nike.
- I'll take the offer across 5 networks, and have them rotate through a script.
- 2 days later i'll change my landing page to a best buy email submit, and do the same thing as step 1 with the best buy submit
- 2 days later i'll do it with a new offer, ie: 52" Vizio TV
- then you can keep doing this, and eventually go back to your first offer and repeat.
It's a giant repeat process, but it takes 30 seconds a day to switch your landing page/offer url.
You can even build a script to have them all switch out every 48 hours. (I haven't done this, but seems like a good idea!)

My fault, I ment to say, "but I've heard you
CAN'T have videos automatically playing or something." Regarding to the PPV networks.
Yeah i'm not active on EWA as much as I would like to. Guess I just gotta work harder and use EWA more and hopefully get a referral.

Stack: I like the idea but had a couple of questions... 1) Do you have any lead quality issues with the CPA networks 2) I thought most email submit offers were 18 and over? Maybe I'm paranoid
but wanted to see what your experience was with these potential issues.

Yep, lead quality issues are always an issue with email submits. The under 18 is a HUGE problem, but they also convert the best so i try to mix it up.
If you want to stay clear of problems, then definitely target celebs/niches that have an older than 18 following!
examples:
- CEOs (Steve jobs, Bill gates)
- Celebs (Oprah, Dr Phil, Keith urban, Tyra Banks, wolf blitzer
- UFC Fighters
- any trending issues at all!
The ideas are endless!

Stackman, what's your average ROI on such campaigns? And what is a typical e-mail submit payout you work with?

- Usually $1.40 per submit
For this campaign:
- I see anywhere between 40% ROI - 1000% ROI. I'd say most of the time it's 100% roi (ie: spend $5, make $10)
The ROI really depends on who/what I'm targeting whether it be Nascar or Tyra Banks.

I don't. I've heard the sound is a good idea because it immediately grabs the viewers attention but I've personally never split tested it. Has anyone else?

How many polls does it take to find a winner? So far I have launched two and as of today the first one is unprofitable. Do you have a part of the forums for busted campaigns and see if we can turn them around?

There is only one forum currently. Start a thread w/ your failed campaign and prepare for the lashings
Side note: I usually use autoplaying audio on my PPV LPs. I've "heard" that it can sometimes negatively effect conversions, however any time I've split tested, the LPs with sound did better.

Sound is a winner in my book - my ROI went 32% up on one campaign. It has not always been the case, but never seen a lower ROI with sound. It cost me 5 bucks at fiverr.com... Make sure it loads fast.

Stack,
I haven't considered this rotating style, very interesting...
First, do you do a lot of submits? all the time? sometimes?
Second, On the campaigns you rotate offers every couple days to help with scrubbing, what kind of targets are you using to be able to change submits from Nike, Viso, BestBuy...ect? Are they from the TV's most popular 500 URLS/keywords to get traffic or scraped ?
Third, Do you just remove all the unprofitable targets and keep running them straight up depending on which offer did best for certain targets or keep rotating?
Last, what is your daily spend for testing these submits?

Hey Twonickle,
OK lets get started:
1. I do submit sometimes, but have had this campaign running for a while! Sometimes i have to pause it, but most of the time it's profiting $100+ a day.
2. This is the beauty of this campaign type! As i mentioned in the original post I'm targeting, celebs and brands mostly, but you can do anyone or anything that is known by a certain niche. IE: Doing the same justin bieber style landing page with "GOKU" from Dragon Ball Z, will likely yield the same results as long as your targeting dragonball Z. So in the end the offer itself doesn't matter too much as long as it relates to people who watch dragonball Z. So A bestbuy gift card, a 52" plasma TV, and a iPhone 4 all are things no Dragonball Z fan would turn down. Submits are usually things people want, they aren't to niche specific so its really easy to rotate them with a campaign like this.
Just a tip, I've been running these campaigns for a while, the goal is to send quality traffic still otherwise i would have been booted. So stick with legit topics. Dragonball Z might not be the best converting traffic for an advertiser so i wouldn't recommend it. I just thought it was a good example niche.
3. I usually keep rotating. Once the initial burst of leads has come in and all the offers settle, they usually convert within 1-2% of eachother. Keeping them rotating every 2 days is pretty important. Makes the campaign last longer.
4. The testing of new campaigns itself is quite easy, usually the niches are small and at max spend $15 a day. That's with 1000's of URLS. So i test for 2 days, spend a max of $30 (i just can't get anymore traffic than that since the campaigns are so niche targeted) and see what i yield. Half the time i can tell just after one day.
I also test with only 1-2 submits. Usually 1 submit. It's not enough traffic for a single day test with multiple submits.

Click through rate is good man, email submits are all over the place, sometimes its better to run your own version with coreg
but yeah a lot of the email submit can be weighted on the network you are running it with, PM me if you want and I'll clear it up for you, I did a fairshare of email submits back in the day haha
But yeah CTR is boss man congratulations on that, way to early to call any shots so just let it keep on hustling

Here's the message I just got from Lead Impact...regarding this type of landing page. Just wondering if you guys ran into the same thing...
"- Landing page must have disclaimer information regarding participation requirements for the offer and be above the fold.
- Landing page must have disclaimer information regarding affiliation with listed merchants or brands and be above the fold."

Thanks stackman Great thread
i joined STM today but i was doing similar this kind of email submit recently but not having much success (wasnt really doing PPV/PPC but kind of local media buy from some websites) . I have been doing this on incentive offers as i dont have access to non-incentive offers yet .
As this thread is several year old so i dont know if these kind of threads are still profitable . but one thing i learned from this is i really need to rotate my offers which i wasnt doing till now i was running the same 3 offer everyday and my EPC sometimes goes very low and i was not able to figure out why . Now i have better idea ... scrubbing

Hello Stackman,
Does this campaign still work in 2015?
I want to try it since it seems very easy to do. I just don't want to waste money if the campaign does not work needs to be updated or needs to be tweeked since this post is several years old.

Since your ROI% are so high, I guess you can get way more volume by increasing the bids (or are you winning already all of the major keywords)?
