Steve Jobs Taking Leave of Absence (Affiliate Opportunity)

Steve Jobs Taking Leave of Absence (Affiliate Opportunity)

My favorite time to make campaigns is during trending topics. The buzz around a trend is a campaign supercharger, it increases CTR the most as well as conversions.

Sometimes i have a campaign idea right away when there is breaking news, and sometimes i don't. This time i don't, but i know there is definitely an opportunity here. This was all over tech and mainstream news today and will be for the rest of the week.

Keywords on Facebook related to Apple, iPad, Macbook and Steve Jobs are in the millions of users in the US.

Apple/Mac/SteveJobs related PPV targets are endless. (Don't target apple.com itself though, you want to aim at Mac Fans, not generic apple purchasers)
- Stock websites and Apple fansites/blogs are really bringing dollar signs to mind! As well as.. technorati.com, mashable.com, engadget.com, gizmodo.com, gawker.com, businessinsider.com, and many many more!

So this time i don't have any set ideas that make me go WOW, but I'm sure their is some immediate cash to be made here.

Some related offers:
(Just search mac, apple, ipad, iphone in http://affbuzz.com/offerbuzz/)
-ipad/iphone submits
-ipad/iphone mobile offers (including prize ones)
- Ewa has this offer:
Mobile IQ Quiz - Moboo : iPhone 4 Macbook Air Quiz Canada (CA) (pays $10.40)! (high for CA traffic!)
Tons of offers, it's the idea thats the harder part.

Just to throw some random thoughts out there:
- Ask a question:
Will Steve Jobs be returning to Apple?
iPad 2 delayed?
Is Apple going under?
*Anything that sparks controversy will increase your CTR!

- You could relate this to a stock offer, since the Apple stock is a very important factor to Jobs temp leave.
(Lots of very high paying stock offers and submits)

I recommend PPV for a campaign like this, millions of targets!
Hope this can help a few of you make a quick cash campaign this week!

Edit: Make sure to include a Facebook 'Like' button on your landing page, especially if your advertising on Facebook!

Interesting.

Are there any websites you follow to see what trend is next?

I really like the idea to use trends to get high ctr and conversions.

Do you also use trends on facebook, on which way?

You can use Google Trends. google.com/trends

There's another Google one that slips my mind right now.

Good luck.

Where you can find trends:

http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends - for more current trends
http://www.yahoo.com - "TRENDING NOW" box in top right corner

Wow, nice shit guys!

I like to use a mix of 3 things for trends.
1. http://www.google.com/trends + http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends
2. CNN.com/MSN.com
3. Offtopic Forums

The mix of all 3 really give you a good perspective of whats trending. You don't have to make this complicated though, just anything that's big news is a "trend". The bigger the better!

As for making campaigns around trends i could write about this for hours! Simply put though:
1. Choose a trend and run with it
2. Find 1-2 offers related to your trend
3. Find an angle to take related to the trend
ie: Will the apple stock fall due to steve jobs leave if absence
4. Make ads/landing pages
5. Choose keywords/targets
(I usually prefer Facebook for trends, it's quicker and you can spend $10k in 2 days if you need to if it's only a short trend!)
6. Launch your campaign and adjust where needed

Honestly that's good! It's insanely stupid, and stupid things always get great CTR!

This is the beauty of affiliate marketing, you can pretty much do whatever you want, ofcourse there are legal risks but if you stay within a grey'ish area you should be fine. If you worked at Nissan and you were making an ad you would have 10+ people review it over 2 weeks. With affiliate marketing you can have ads up within hours!

Here is another great tool to identify trends: http://buzzlog.buzz.yahoo.com/overall/

It's even broken down into categories!

You could try http://trendsbuzz.com/ - I've been using that and I don't see anyone talking about it, anywhere.

It's essentially all the other top trending lists on one page. Call me lazy, but everything in one place is perfection in my book.

So breaking news, Steve has stepped down as CEO.

Definitely a prime opportunity now to break that news to people via adverts and monetise it somehow. E.g. "Steve Jobs has resigned!" "Steve is no longer CEO. But he is staying with Apple - To celebrate we are giving away some iPads!"

Go go go!

08-25-2011 01:13 AM #16 stackman (Administrator)

yep yep, this time its bigger, something can definitely be worked out with this, it'll be talked about for atleast a week.
