"Message from Facebook Ads" WTF

I just received this message - it's a new one for me. Anyone know what I should expect to happen after this? Was doing some insurance and dating offers.

Curious if I should delete the ads and wait a while or just ditch the account completely.

Hi,

We've noticed that you are currently running Facebook Ads that violate our Advertising Guidelines or Terms of Use.

The content of ads must accurately reflect the product or service advertised. Ads must clearly disclose what actions are required to receive the product or service. The landing page must also explicitly state to what extent a user’s information will be used or distributed.

Please delete any ads that violate these policies within 48 hours to bring your account into compliance with Facebook policies. Continuing to run ads that violate our policies may result in additional action being taken on your account, including possible termination.

If you have questions about ad content that may violate our guidelines, feel free to reply to this email.

Thanks for your cooperation,

The Facebook Ads Team

Delete ads. Don't ditch account. Why would you do that?

I you really want to be sure: delete everything that's even slightly questionable. Upload some campaigns for innocent stuff (ie charity).

I got this same message last month - emailed every address I had for Facebook (and replied to that email) asking to which ad they were referring, and got no response. Since I only had 48 hours, I just deleted every campaign I had in that account. I probably had a 95% approval rating for ads associated w/ that account, and never submitted anything in the vicinity of what we'd call "shady". Completely baffled.

So the account is still active, but since it has no history, my suggested bids quadrupled in value. Right now my suggested bid for single males 25-30 in the US is $3.15 (example). As a result, I don't use Facebook ads anymore - and I'm better for it. It forced me to look at other traffic sources. Best thing that ever happened to me IM-wise.

I may sound nuts saying this, but I think Facebook might be sending this out as a blanket email to tons of people at random, in the hopes that it will scare them into taking down anything they're cloaking or anything shady they slipped by the review team.

I mean, think about it - if you were Facebook and couldn't curb the bullshit going on, what would you do? That's what I'd do, for sure. It seems right when you get people like bmcadvertising who have legit accounts with good approval ratings and they get the email too.

z6 could be right...

FYI: I've received the email a couple of times. If I had any winner ads I'd leave them up but just delete some others that could be considered shady. Worked for me. I do want to say that it's not necessarily something you would want to do, just sharing my experiences.

I agree with Z6 for the blanket email. Just delete the naughty, questionable ones and make some ads promoting bibles.

Ya always leave some "good cause" camps in your account.....or like a legit store or business...

good feedback. never thought of the blanket email but that would be a genius move... i mean it caused me to just delete everything lol. that would be the smartest move FB has made in a while, if they are really doing that.

good tips on adding clean ads to the account. it's a low limit / low quality account anyway but this could come in quite handy with the bigger ones. thanks kids.

This is an old email of theirs, I've got this before. It's just an account warning, delete any ads you think they may be talking about though! Def don't ditch the account

Got my love letter from FB today. Should we be routinely deleting disapproved ads as it happens?

I would hardly call it a genius move. If I were heading their team, it's the first thing I would try against advertisers who have submitted shady ads in the past.

Also saw a tip from someone (maybe z6) about changing out links on old campaigns just in case they decide something is no longer approved you aren't penalized for it. Now with the WOT shit it seems like every fucking dating site is bad. I think that could have saved my acct...I got banned when I hadn't even run anything for over a month.

^^ Yeah you should definitely do this. I have all my URLs going to php redirect files on my server so when I'm done with the campaign I can switch the links to something tame. Actually better to rename index.php -> indexold.php and add a clean index.php, that way you kinda have a log of what you were doing in the past.

Very possible - didn't even think about that.

Just get rid of anything questionable and you should be fine. All else fails - they are much easier to get new accounts with than Adwords.
