Recently i wanted to know if Facebook secretly keeps CC info even once a new cc is added, for the main reason of buying accounts (don't know if this was proven already but i had to know for myself).
My original theory
say UserA sells their FB account to UserB:
- My original idea was for UserA to add a prepaid Visa to their account, then delete their real visa.
- Then sells the account to UserB who would add their real visa
From here everything would be fine and dandy right? .. Wrong!
Facebook keeps the initial credit card on file (even though you won't see it in your billing section at all. When you overbill your current CC's, FB WILL bill your initial card.
So to put this in an example
UserA sells their Facebook account to UserB. (first UserA has to delete their credit card and the only way to do that properly is by adding another credit card, so you would use a cheap prepaid card, and add it to the account your selling). UserB then receives the account, adds their credit card and everything can be smooth from there.
...BUT what if UserB is an evil evil man?
User B may decide to add a credit card with only a $500 limit.
Now User B decides to spend $10,000 on Facebook (with their new big spending account they just bought). Well once the $500 is spent on CC#1, then your original CC will be charged, and thus you'll be screwed.
This is atleast what happened to account i just tested this with, if theirs a workaround where a previous credit card added to the account won't get charged, please share!
Also when i say "CC" I'm referring to "credit card"
I would cancel the original credit card I had on the account, easy to do - can just say you think someone may have written down your credit card details. No way I'm selling something to someone that used to bill a credit card of mine that was stored on file.
My FB ads account is using paypal for payments. Would the same theory apply?
ya elquid just went thru this....just call the bank the day the account is sold....tell them you lost your card.....as zeno said it works....worst case is if the person who bought the account trys to fuck you by testing your old card....there brand new account will get disabled.....
Yeah i read something on the forums i just couldn't find it and needed to know for sure. It's crazy all the times i got new CC's for advertising stuff. I'm going to try heavyt's method though this time and see if its possible to be reassigned a new number only.
let me tell you this...
I have had a HELL OF A TIME trying to sell mine. As soon as I posted I had a couple 30k a day spend accounts for sale and possibly some 5k a day accounts too, I had a ton of PMs from newish members, low post count members, and reg. members on this board and Wickedfire as well. Mostly new and low post count members.
I had a suspicion on a few of them. Since selling these accounts I knew would be giving some access to my billing info, past campaigns, and would be a huge asset stolen from me if the transaction didn't go thru on their end or if they used my CC somehow after the sale ( like the first posting of this thread mentions )
My first initial buyer wanted to give me 5k more then my asking on the 30k a day spend account, so I went thru the process with them. We went back and forth on a couple things and it took forever, but my feeling was once I told them I wanted to use escrow.com ( which is what even eBay uses ) and that I would be cancelling the card on file ( instead of replacing it ), they got cold feet. Once this happened I went down my list of potential buyers from the PMs and every single one of them got cold feet ( except 1 who already bought another account ) when I mentioned escrow.com and cancelling my CC on file at Facebook. Granted, there was about a week between their PMs and me getting back to them, but some of these guys had hit me up multiple times begging me to sell to them and then got cold feet.
I pretty much summed it up to these people either trying to:
1. steal the account from me until they realized I was using escrow.com and they would need to pay up for real
2. was going to somehow use my CC to their advantage
3. just bullshitting the whole time
I would just be careful. I got the feeling that buying and selling FB account must be some kind of shady black market for credit card fraud or ID theft since everyone that wanted these accounts pretty much didnt want them after I mentioned cancelling my card and using escrow.com for the transaction ( to protect us both ).
I am only going to deal with established and well known members from now on, but I did learn a lot from the process.
I still have (2) 30k a day spent accounts for sale and (1) 30k a day spend account that has (3) 5k a day biz accounts as well attached to it. I am going to make sure all billing associated with the account is cancelled with my bank though and funds will be verified before handing any of them over...
or
4. were afraid to buy the account from you just to have the account disabled shortly there afterward because FB has caught on that the account has been sold.....
I know myself personally I would not buy an account for just this reason....has nothing to do with you personally but more of the fact that FB is cracking down more and more every account I have ever bought has had issues at one point or another......and to risk spending 15k to have possibly disabled later for whatever reason is a fair amount to risk....
not all affs are bad.....but its a game of risk.....you have nothing to loose...the person who buys the account can loose everything....
Nice, thanks for the recap.
I think it makes perfect sense. Not to deter anyone from buying accounts, because it may profitable for what you need to do, but it only takes 2 weeks to get an account to $5k/day anyways. So i can see why 99.9% of people would fall under the 3 categories you mentioned.
(just got an account to $2k in 2 weeks without spending more than $350 a day, and spent nothing the last 4 days and it went from $500 - $2000)
I do know there's some shady methods people would actually buy a 30k/day account for, so it still makes sense to buy large accounts depending on what your doing, it's just that's a very select group of people and the rest are likely fraudsters.
Can't you guys just remove your cc or paypal info from http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=169252676469742
which is also > acct settings > payments > manage - where you edit or remove your payment method ? Does removing it from here keeps you safe or does fb still keep the info and charge when needed ?
@eliquid
OR maybe you took for fucking ever to get back to them and they found someone else to buy an account from.
$15k for a 30k limit account? Why do affiliate marketing mate lol
@cpakiller
Because not many buyers for $30k accounts, only a lot of pretend buyers.
