FBb Testing Ad Opt Out?
Will this lead to less revenue for FB or more?

A subset of Facebook users is being offered the opportunity to "Hide all from [advertiser]" when they mouse over the "x" in the upper right hand corner of an ad. Selecting that option apparently eliminates future ad impressions served to the user. It's unclear whether the user is opting out of that particular campaign or all future ads from the brand.
seems to me this is good news for affiliates... if a user hates my ads they can say 'Hide All From Advertiser' and I no longer waste impressions on them. By x'ing me out they're actually helping me improve my ad performance. It'll be like FB users are optimizing my campaign for me.

ya in many ways I could see it being a good thing but also a bad thing.....since FB is mainly a CPC platform these days anyways.....you don't pay for impressions....(all be it it effects your ctr though)....but we will just have to see what exactly they block....like if its just block this ad thats prob a good thing....or block all ads from this advertiser that could be bad.....

FB already has a 'block this ad' function. The article stated that this is a "Hide all from [advertiser]" option. So if someone is tired of eharmony ads then they will never see one again. It could be a good idea as it would increase ctr while decreasing user complaints.

Ya that could be good...but my fear is that it might be implemented at the ad account level....and not the end url....like users would get that as an option....and happily click it thinking they are blocking just that url....but instead they are blocking you from ever showing them ads again....of any kind

Good point, hopefully that is not the case. If it is then I guess I'll just have to open an agency account as I doubt they would block an agency over one ad.
