Woah, this is a great tumblr!

Every day there are millions of email sent out. Millions of emails with missed potential.

It's too easy for the email marketer to forget the spell binding effect words have on his readers. Too easy to forget that you're in charge of the readers mind. That you should keep the reader wanting more, keep them guessing, like a good author does in his suspenseful books.

Just pick up a few tricks here and there, understand the psychology behind them and implement them in your day to day hustle. Often it takes so little effort to drastically improve your copy.

80% of all email will always be worthless. It's up to you to position yourself in the top 20%.

PS:
This actually applies to all marketing. Because the true secret to effective marketing - or effective emails - is communication. Your job as a marketer is being the conveyor of stories. Practice good storytelling every day, with the people you care about, and it will reflect in all you do. Don't skimp on this.

Only when you've grabbed your readers full attention will they be ready to follow your desired actions.

Nice find!

I also like this site as well: http://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/em...-examples-list which lists 10 stellar email marketing examples and explains why they are great.

@equadox is right, "80% of all email will always be worthless. It's up to you to position yourself in the top 20%."

You need to capitalize on attention, and bring your subscribers from glancing (email open for 2 seconds)- to skimming (email open for 2-8 seconds)- to actually fully reading

Become a craftsman of the written word!

I hate being the guy who does this, but I'll do it anyway.

I don't see what's so great about this email copy.

I get what they're trying to do. Just not seeing the greatness of the emails.

Also: what makes an email great, anyway?

Personally, I don't believe in great emails - I believe in great email campaigns; from the lander to the welcome email to the autoresponders to the promos to the ...yeah, the whole she-bang.

There's an art and science to writing email campaigns.

Okay, I'm getting off my soapbox; I write emails for a living ($500 ea), so I can be a snob about it.

If anyone wants email help, message me here or add me on Skype -- I'll help you out, no charge.
