I've done very little PPV in the past.. about a year and a half ago I setup 3 direct link campaigns.. right from the start one of them was profitable and net $10-15/day for a week, then died off.. I was more into Adwords/MSN and other sources at the time so I didn't continue with this.. Now I'm back and looking to reach my first milestone of $100/day net with PPV. (Next milestone is $1k/day net!)
So I had a Bieber style campaign go live on LeadImpact yesterday.. below are the stats and data.
(Method discussed by stackman - http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...istent-150-Day )
Rotated 3 offers, each from a different network. Test 2 landing pages which are simple designs, similar to the one in the Bieber campaign. Different color backgrounds, different images, different headlines.
FYI.. this is not on Bieber keywords / urls.. its a different artist and so far I have no competition.
Stats:
Total Views LI Reports: 496 (why is it different than what prosper reports?)
Total Views in Prosper: 381
Spend: $10.01
Rev: $1.35
Net: $-8.66
ROI: -86.5%
Leads: 1
Only 1 offer converted yesterday.

The CTR's for the LPs aren't bad.. with LP2 doing very decent right off the bat.. except the fact that LP1 converted and LP2 didn't yesterday.. but the LP's didn't receive much clicks throughts and split between 3 offers limited it.
So when I woke up this morning, LP2 is still maintaining a high CTR and actually converted 1 lead.. I check and it was from the exact same offer that converted yesterday. So what I have done is removed the other two offers that hadn't converted since each offer has received 30 clicks to it and the one offer converted twice.. so I want to send all the traffic to that one offer for now. Good choice or should I keep testing offers?
Also, today I'm receiving alot more traffic volume from my targets.. I'm already up to 500 views.. yesterday alot of my views came from 1 primary target that did convert once but at this point its unprofitable.
Screenshot of Target Stats - Offer payout that converts is $1.35

Questions:
1.Other than continuing to split test new landing pages / tweaks which I will be doing.. what else can be done to identify more converting targets and bring this to a positive ROI?
2. Should I test more offers? or just ride the one that I know converts until I build it up some and then test more?
3. Would it be a good idea to combine this with the co-reg idea ?
Thanks Guys!
Update
Since my post earlier today.. I followed through and removed the two offers that didn't receive any conversions (I did that around 11am CST).. with half my budget already spent by that time, I let the remaining budget run with just the converting offer and I haven't changed the LPs at all due to many more targets generating traffic and both LPs are doing equal to or better than the previous day. Traffic stopped by 1:45pm CST, prob due to budget maxed for the day.. with 7 total conversions.
I'll provide a detailed update once LI updates my cost for the day. But I probably am around a -50% ROI which is a huge increase.. I know I can get this profitable now, and quickly.
I'm going to be setting up about 5 other campaigns following this format.. if I can get each campaign to make atleast $25/day net on just LI.. I should then be able to scale it to TV if I can get an account with them and double or triple profits.
That's my tentative plan. So stay tuned!
Good stuff so far, I will be paying attention & thanks for sharing!
Two things you should try immediately...
Sign up to addrive and try a couple of their email submits.
Get your LP CTR up to around 20%. (If you post your lander on the forums or PM me I could give you some tips).
I'm unaware of those terms?
AdDrive is super strict with quality they should allow it just ask your AM if you have any questions or doubt. Another network for email submits would be lfmnetwork.com

Recap of Day 2:
Obviously me removing the none converting offers shot up my revenue today and it appears I would have broken even if I had ran that offer alone for the whole day.
What I have done for Day 3:
I took LP1 and duplicated it.. changed the headline and added audio, now called LP3.
I've left the one converting offer sit for now.. I've applied to Addrive per a recommendation. As soon as I get approved with them I will setup and run a couple more email submits to find more converting offers.
In the meantime I will let LP1 and LP3 run for Day 3.. analyze the results and continue to improve the CTR on the landing pages.
Added Info:
I will have 2 more campaigns like this created by end of tomorrow, to try and get it approved on Friday so I can have 3 total campaigns running over the weekend.
I still have a few questions from my initial post that haven't been answered but I appreciate the feedback and help so far
MrGreen, why do you suggest addrive? Generally better CRs, less lead thievery? I've never heard of them, but ever since I saw that co-reg post I'm apprehensive on spending any money driving leads to regular email subs.
I'm at the airport in Memphis connecting to Chicago.. I'll tell you one thing.. PPV takes patience, it's alot slower than Adwords and social media.. it's making me wait for this and wait for that, approval times, stats updates, etc.. and ordinarily I'm not too patient. But I have to be in this situation.
Mid-day update for Day 3
The tweaks I added to LP3, audio and different headline, don't seem to be having a big impact, the CTR is actually 7%'ish which is lower than the original two LP's.. but the conversion rates are still about the same.
8 Leads so far today.
I'll update more later.
What other creative ideas can I use to increase the CTR on my LP? I have deactivated a high volume target that was getting alot of views and a couple conversion but not profitable .. the CTR on that target is 9.16% and I would need to triple the CTR on it to break even.. I would say that it is my most broad target so it would be hard I feel to increase its CTR so much.
Or should I put it in a campaign of its own and build different LPs for that one target and try to get it profitable?

Testing New offers now but I don't know what the heck happen with the present offer unless it is just being scrubbed.
Looks like the conversion rate is way too low for an email submit.
Can you add more offers to the rotation?
Yes I can add more offers to the rotation.. MrGreen suggested I test out some email submits from Addrive.. I'm still pending my account being approved with them.
1. What is a good target CR for email submits? (I'm sure it varies but there is probably a minimum target?)
2. My Two best LPs tend to get between 8-10% CTR.. taking into account that the LPs are a very similar style to the Bieber demonstration, what else can I do to improve the CTR?
3. If I'm testing different offers, do I need to change the wording on the LP or can I make it more generic? Like if it currently stated on my LPs "Receive $500 to Victoria Secret" and I'm testing 4 different offers that may not all be Victoria Secret offers, is that bad? or should I just say something like "Receive a Free Gift" and test various types of offers til I find one that converts?
Thanks for your help.
Usually for profitable email submits I get a 15%-20% CR.
You landing page CTR is already pretty good , but if you use audio , geo targetting and alerts it will be higher.
When I said test different offer , I meant similar offers across multiple networks ( for ex. walmart gift cards. )
If you want to use completely different offers , make the landing page more generic like " There is (1) gift for you".
Give it a go and update us how it goes.
Oh gotcha.. I've test about 5 offers for this particular type of offer.. and just setup to test 5 more offers of the same through different networks.
So lets say I can't find a (example) Walmart offer through various networks that will convert at the rate I need.. should I try a different offer like an iPhone offer from various networks, and keep repeating til I find an offer that works.. of course I have to keep in mind the demographics behind my campaign angle and the offers themselves.
If traffic is good and very target.. LPs are getting good CTR's, so the last puzzle is finding a good converting offer.. even if I have to test different type of offers right?
Thanks
Day 5 Official Update
Views: 1605 (prosper reported around 1250..what can I do to eliminate this issue?)
Spend: $24.98
Rev: $0.00
Net: -$24.98
Leads: 0
ROI: -100%
CR: 0%
LP CTR: ~9%
Since I'm trying to find a converting offer to make this campaign profit I only ran the 1 LP that for sure has a high CTR so that I can maximize my views/clicks and test as many offers as possible to find one that works.
The original offer that I found that converted was a $500 Victoria Secret card.. it converted at about 8-9% most of the time except on Day 4 it tanked and barely converted at all. I had previously tested about 5 other Victoria Secret offers before finding that one that converted. bbrock32 stated that I should aim to find a email submit that converts between 15-20% which I agree, if I can find one that does that I will be immediately profitable. So yesterday, Day 5, I tested 5 different Victoria Secret offers that I had never tested before, all from different networks and 3 of them were completely different looking Victoria Secret offers.. all of them were email submits except for one, which was a zip. Nothing converted.. I sent atleast 25 clicks to each offer and no conversion on any of them. I'm a little confused? How can one Victoria Secret offer convert but not even one conversion from 10 different yet similar offers?
So here are my questions:
1. I'm going to try to promote an entirely different email/zip submit offer to see if I can find one that works.
2. Could my problem be related to the speed of the redirection from the LP to the offer page? LP load time is fine.
3. Is there anything else I can do or test besides more offers and different networks. (Still pending on Addrive as MrGreen suggested and will try that this week.)
I will test a completely different but relevant offer tomorrow for Day 6.. I paused the campaign for today (Sunday) and will resume it tomorrow with the modifications I've made.
All feedback and questions are appreciated!
Hope y'alls weekend was great.
I am determined to get this profitable.
Its possible through testing you can get this profitable, But when I am testing I sometimes pause everything, take a step back, look at the total I have invested in this campaign, and rethink it entirely.
Here is just a quick and partial update... Since I paused the campaign on LI and didn't run it yesterday, it's taken the majority of the day to get the traffic to start rolling, I've only received about 200 views today but it started to pick up late this evening.. my experience so far with LI is it can take til day 2 before traffic starts to come in with decent volume.
What I Know about today so far:
My LP is still holding a strong CTR.. approx 9%.. I've received 1 conversion so far on the new type of offers I'm testing, there are 5 offers in rotation.
I'll know more about the exact cost and stats tomorrow morning, and by noon tomorrow I should have enough traffic to each of the 5 offers I'm testing to identify good/bad converting offers.
I've copied the idea of the co-reg thread thats been very inspiring, and I've duplicated the Victoria Secret offer that was converting so well for me last week, what I'm going to try and do is test my traffic going through a co-reg idea.. not sure if that will work or not, but it's just something I'd like to try and get and idea for.. so I'll probably run that half a day tomorrow once I figure out the right way to track it through prosper.
Day 6 Official Update 7/25/11
Traffic didn't start picking up til later in the evening and then slowed as the night come on, so there wasn't much data presented. Testing new offers and here are the stats.

Day 7 Official Update 7/26/11
Over the course of this day I tested about 7 different offers.

Clicks: 223
LP CTR: 9.86%
Leads: 14
Cost: $41.93

All the conversions came from one offer.
I was traveling back to Dallas yesterday (7/27/11) so I paused this campaign as I wouldn't be able to monitor it.
Mid-Day Update Today 7/28/11
Found 3 networks running the same offer that converted, so I set it up to test the CR across all those networks. Surprisingly the offer is direct with Addrive which MrGreen had suggested for me to try last week when I first started seeing some conversions. My application is still pending with them.
I will update tomorrow for the stats of today.
My Thoughts So Far
I've not found an email submit offer that converts more than about 8% so far and I've tested about 25 offers.. At this point I'm not sure what else to do with this campaign.
Official Day 8 Update 7/28/11
LI views: 1331
P202 views: 1109
Clicks: 91
LP CTR: 8.21%
Leads: 10
Cost: $20.00

Net: -$6.10
I'm still only using the one best CTR LP to not waste any views/clicks at this point.. I've found an offer that's converting between 10-11% which has allowed me to come very close to breaking even today.
My next actions are:
1. Request a payout bump to help me out.
2. Work on getting my LP up to 15% CTR or more.
3. Optimize and remove poor performing targets.
Any other input? Thoughts? Suggestions? Questions?

@index - thanks for the input
Hi! This is my first post. Sorry but I don't get it. Why are you all talking about CTR in PPV campaigns? As far as I understand the only click a user can make is when he submits the email or zip, so CTR and CR should be equal.
I tried the freee iPad and wallmart gift cards with LI and 7search. Got seaveral conversions with LI but never profit. I got a small profit margin with 7search and walmart gift card in a $20 a day campaign. When I scaled the campaign to $100 a day, the conversion rate dropped to A ridiculously low amount. Clearly a case of Junk traffic. I emailed 7search about this, but only got vague explanations about my keywords. Nevertheless it is fair to say that I'm pleased with 7search. It is simply that I have to find the right way to use it.
Hi @mrpayne,
Maybe it is off-topic, but I see that you are using prosper202 and LI.
I have the same configuration. Could you please help me with setup of landing page and keywords tracking.
I tried to add %KEYWORD% to the end of the generated landing page link (as I read on warrior forum) and use php file
for redirection, but I see %KEYWORD% on the prosper reports instead of real keyword.
It worked for direct linking. I'd like to add landing page now.
Thanks,
Dani
For LI you don't have to use the %KEYWORD%.. you just use the link 202 gives you and make sure you turn on keyword pass-through in your LI campaign, you don't have to add any variables to it. On other cpv networks you may have to but not LI.
Search the forms here, there are plenty of answers on how to set it up right.
This tutorial is all that you need to read, it explains everything step by step:

Just updating this follow along thread..
I spent about $200 testing various ideas and offers for this.. what I determined was at this time, I'm not really turned on by email/zip submit offers as they scrub quickly and I can't seem to find one to maintain a consistent conversion rate.
I had a great experience with this and have moved on to different type of offers that won't scrub.
I will start more follow alongs soon as I've been setting up and testing many FB, POF and PPV campaigns.
Thanks for the help and support in this follow along study
