Lets Discuss Daily Deal Offers on PPV

Been setting up some campaigns over the last week for daily deal offers on PPV. I've been testing with KGB because they seem to be the largest non restrictive advertiser for deals at the moment.

Tip: Once you find a promoting campaign, split the same offer between networks. Sometimes you'll notice the same conversion rates, sometimes you won't.

I've just been going real simple, simple targeting by website or by brand/celeb. Not targeting anything that's too big right now such as a whole niche, ie: gardening.

These campaigns have a longer run time than the Facebook ones (but not nearly the immediate revenue Facebook has brought me -- FB is like a flash flood of cash once you get a campaign rolling). I'm noticing a lot more competition on PPV, certain domains/areas are just sooo crowded no matter how much i scrape.

With PPV you can't target per city, so theirs 3 REALLY good tactics to use here.

1. Use A Geoscript
Pretty much speaks for itself. Use a geoscript on your landing page. Make your title "Surfing Deals In <California>". You can use the script any way you like, but the geoscript is key if your targeting 'local' deals.

2. Target A Website
Websites aren't local, so no need for a geoscript here. Simple concept! Relate your offer to a website using a creative idea you like, and targeting is as easy as pie!

3. Target A Country Wide Concept/Brand/Thing
Many many big things/brands aren't local. In fact most big ones aren't, but this somewhat steers away from the whole 'groupon theory' which is being local. Still none the less offering up deals within a country wide offer will sell!

Hope that sparks up a convo, I'm still working on campaigns and ideas myself and I'll update here as i learn more. Try your own campaigns and lets bounce ideas off each other.

I'm thinking we can get some really nice PPV campaigns going on these offers...its unlimited. I'm gonna try out 5-10 angles tomorrow/next day so I'll update then with what I've learned

Are you using trafficvance or lead impact?

The kgb offer on Ads4Dough only allows traffic from specific cities. I haven't messed with ppv yet so I'm not sure but can you target specific cities only? I haven't checked other networks yet for kgb but are they allowing traffic from other cities and not just specific ones? If that is the case then I just need to get the offer somewhere else for ppv I assume.

@msmith

I use mainly TrafficVance and LeadImpact and to my knowledge they do not have the ability to target cities.

Thanks Jay. I kinda thought that but wasn't sure. Maybe some networks don't restrict traffic to just specific cities.

@msmith

You definitely want to get with all the networks you can that have this and/or similar offers and compare the restrictions. The restrictions may vary. Talk to your AMs too.

@loxllxol I'm using TV

@msmith
EDIT: KGB allows you to target most main city's, there aren't specific city restrictions within other networks

Thanks stackman. That's good news. Everyone I'm with only targets specific cities. Would you care to share the ones you know of that allow mass US traffic?

03-02-2011 11:06 PM #10 stackman (Administrator)

Oh OK i misunderstood. It's not A4D restricting you, it's just the city's KGB has available on their offer itself...
*or am i still confused, is their restrictions on your A4D 'offer details' saying specific city's allowed to target?

03-02-2011 11:13 PM #11 msmith (Member)

I have checked with both A4D and Epic and they are restricting the traffic to only specific cities in their offer details. I assume this is just the "deal" they have set up with KGB. I may have misunderstood you as well. Are you saying that some networks will allow you to target all US cities with the KGB offer specifically?

Here's a copy & paste of what Epic's says in their KGB offer description:

"****THIS OFFER IS PRIVATE, MUST GET APPROVAL TO RUN OR BE CHARGED BACK.

Save up to 90% on what you love to do in your city! We have daily deals on local spas, restaurants, and other
special events. Enter your email address to start receiving special deals in your city today.

Payout Occurs When: the user enters their email address and local city.

Other networks, such as C2M (who currently has the KGB offer on pause) do not have those restrictions stated on their offer description.

@Jay
Thanks, k you clarified what was happening here.

I had no idea any networks had restrictions on which city's you can advert too for the KGB offer. I know quite a few networks have no restrictions. Search affbuzz.com/offerbuzz to find other networks. Also some run it on private so you may have to ask around. I know for most of you who are with EWA & C2M there's no restriction per city, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any with Neverblue either.

WSM doesn't restrict on cities but has this not on the offer:

Offer Doesnt Accept Email and/or Search Traffic. If you are caught promoting the offer with email or search traffic, leads may be charged back by the advertiser.
Seems that C2M has the biggest payout so far

Don't concentrate on payout....EPC is the only thing that matters!

I requested the offet at wsm. He told me he could not believe how c2m is able to have a payout of 2.20, wsm would lose money with that payout. Gues the relation ship between the advertiser and c2m is bettet. They gave me another payout too. This is about uk offer btw. Also ewa paused the offers

@marc I believe Jeremiah would scream at your AM who confessed their network is inferior

03-03-2011 03:31 PM #18 Jay (Member)

@marco

Haha... we must have the same AM. Mine said the same thing. :O
