I'd love to hear thoughts on how to spend a campaign budget.
Let's say you wanted to test a brand-spankin-new BizOpp offer from the ground up, with new landers, open to any and all traffic sources, and you had a total testing budget of $10,000.
Would you:
1) Spend the money as quickly as possible across as many traffic sources as possible (wide and fast) and then focus where you got the conversions.
2) Ration the spend across a period of time across many sources (wide and slow) while iterating to try to boost conversion rate?
3) Focus intently on a particular traffic source and try to get it profitable until moving to the next? (deep and ???)
4) Something else?
Thanks!
P.S. Anyone here live in the Buffalo, NY area?
this
3) Focus intently on a particular traffic source and try to get it profitable until moving to the next? (deep and ???)
First things first, find out if the offer actually converts.
1) Test the offer on a proven traffic source, if it breaks even or is slightly negative then it has potential.
2) If you're deep in the red after initial testing then dump the offer and move on to another one, not all offers were created equally.
3) If the offer has potential then you can begin optimizing, get positive on one traffic source before scaling it out to others
Set aside a reasonable testing budget that you can comfortably lose before you go balls deep and lose your shirt. The more you spend the faster you'll be able to gather information. You can test multiple traffic sources if you want but keep in mind that it will be a lot more work managing all those campaigns, it really depends on your risk tolerance and your ability to effectively manage your campaign data across multiple ad networks.
On a small budget, where would you start testing a weight loss offer? social, PPV, GCN?
Idea is to convert to webinar leads.
is it personal preference? or can PPV typically get you a rough idea for the best price?
Yeah to add on what 403flux said. Make sure the offer converts.
You don't want to go round test all this random shit unless you know its a proven converter or you know something we don't...or you have experience promoting bizopp offers.
If that's a bingo, then you find out which traffic source is proven for bizopp offers. Orrr you run it on a traffic source you feel comfortable with.
Either way, stick to focusing your efforts to one source (vote #3).
I would donate the money to a children's hospital.
without Marketing... Sorry :-)
this idea is even better mr. green
:-)
@daybraker - I have a hard time focusing on anything to the right of your avatar.
Totally agree with what 403flux said. Get one offer that converts (I believe most networks have their TOP converting offers information for you to access, else, ask your AM for it), besides relying on the network, use your own judgement too. Take a look at the offer's landing page, to see if it contains elements that maximize the conversion (of course, the more the better).
Let's recap on what a good offer is --> http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ing-your-Offer
If you judge the offer is a good one + recommended by the network, then just pick one traffic source and make it profitable.
I used to use multiple traffic sources for one single offer (I pushed it with LI, MT, and DCPV) before I get it profitable. As a result I see a lot of RED COLORS in my Prosper overview. After joining this forum, I learnt that you have to be FOCUS, really FOCUS, don't think too big before you get your foundation set up properly.
Now, thanks to all the guide and people from this forum, I can always make profitable campaigns, not to say 1k/day, but at least I am seeing positive ROI, at which I believe I will make even more money eventually, as long as I DO NOT QUIT.
That's my 2cent. Good luck brother!
I can change it tho this one if you want: ![]()
Nice. Everyone likes my girlfriend!

I can tell you this, I have always specialized in 1 traffic source and it has its pro's and cons.
I had friends back in the rebill boom that would always brag and be like " I got 3 VA's and 4 employees and I can be in FB, Media Buys, Adwords, PPV and I can also be in Acai, Biz Op, Muscle, and teeth all at the same time.. blah blah blah".
At the same time, I only focused on Acai and FB.
What did I learn watching them compared to me? They not only burned out faster, but they got banned at places faster and made no where near the money I did ( from what I can tell, cant confirm ). 2 year later they beggin me to show them FB and how to get back on, etc.
Be a master of just a few things and profit.
I personally use Facebook quite a bit to test. Even if all things do not work out roi wise I at least get to establish very quickly is A. there is mass interest (by my ctr) and B. If it is even close to breaking even and if not what rate I would need to get there. For me $500-1000 on facebook is a thorough test.
