Facebook + Email Submits= Little Bit Of Money

What I tested today was running email submits on facebook:

Offer: Wii Fit
Payout: 1.30

Headline: Wii Fit Testers?
Ad Body: 42-44 Year-old females needed now to test Wii Fit. Fill out this short form; Email required.

Targeting: 42-44 Females

Stats:
830k impressions
1001 clicks
CTR: .12
25 cpc
cost: 252.12$
210 leads at 1.30 each
273 Revenue
Profit: 20$

Now that we have seen some potential there, how would you go about optimizing it? Getting it near that .2 ctr or higher that is needed to reap insane profits? Curious to hear YOUR suggestions

Wow nice. I guess facebook is re allowing submits. I know they hard-banned them a while ago. Assuming they're re-allowed i can write some good guides up because i used to run submits all the time on facebook

It's all about your images! You have a converting campaign, just increase your CTR. I can't search images right now, but search for the following terms:
- wii fail
- wii yoga
- wii wtf
- wii fall
- wii weird
- wii cases
- crazy wii case
- weird wii case

Get people with crazy faces holding the nintendo wii, look for crazy wii cases, anything really that will make you turn your head.

Well I'm not to sure if they are allowing them again. You know sometimes they slip through. What do you mean by wii fails? What ctr is needed for 20 cent clicks?
I am assuming we wont find these on google so sites like deviant art. Do i need to change my adcopy at all?

I hope facebook reopens submits in the future!

Thanks man!

Nope your ad copy is perfect, it's why your CR is nice and high!

You can find these images on google, this isn't a secret of any sort, you just need to work hard and have a keen eye for finding images that will stand out! Test a lot and you'll start noticing them better. 'wii fails' means 'wii screwups'. Have you ever head the term 'epic fail'?

Don't really have an update for you guys since fb keeps on disapproving these ads, I did try a new one with the starbucks logo for a starbucks offer and that didnt work out: 0.16 ctr but very few leads to even make it worth it.

The image i used!:

So apparently getting submits through on FB is pretty easy with a dedicated cloaker and not just a bait and switch,

The tricky part is getting the ages approved in the text once you do that you can get CTR's above .10 consisently combined with the right images and you will make stacks!
But if you choose to go without using the age in your text then you lose your guaranteed .10 ctr and you won't have as much heat getting them approved but you won't make stacks!

I just did a test and used my ad without the age text in it and got a .05 while the age got a .12, I have no idea why this works so well maybe because its relevant to the audience?
As always post your thoughts or things that should be tested!

02-22-2011 04:10 AM #7 stackman (Administrator)

Definitely because it's relevant to the audience your targeting! I didn't think it's be such a big gap though. Thanks for the tip!

I'll be trying this tonight or tomorrow and wi'll post results.

INTL Email submits which i just got in a network email:
$500 Best Buy Gift Card [CA], $500 Victoria Secrets Gift Card [AU], and Mac Makeup [UK]!!!

Are you trying with or without the age in the text?

Will try with first.

I honestly have no clue what just happened,

I got a starbucks submit approved:
Targeting 18-21 year old females with the starbucks keywords and I used the starbucks logo

I managed to get an astonishing .02% ctr, anyone know what went wrong? haha

Another keyword idea for Wii -- Wii Concept.

Build a LP with the picture centered "Real or Fake" -- "Win a Wii Fit Bundle" or whatever.

Prob. increase CVR by making the lead interact with your LP.

Similar to Stacks previous post on ppv camp. using celeb images (justin b)

I ran zip submits way back in the day (before FB banned them - so like 1-2 years ago) and I was getting like a $0.30 epc direct linked. I was running that ESPN gift card offer, maybe you've seen it on a couple networks. The network behind that - AdDrive.com - has some really good zip submits. C2M carries alot of them

FB are going to disapprove ads that lead to this kind of landing page.
I used to run poll types of ads with email submits about a year ago until FB started disapproving all of my ads with the claim that they were creating a false connection between the participation in the poll and winning the freebie.
No doubt this is a very effective technique - making the user qualify for a prize increases the conversion rate but on the other hand - you have to get your ads approved first :-)

If someone tries this approach and succeeds let us know, should be interesting.
Maybe a different wording on the landing page and ads can have the ads approved (something that doesn't indicate that voting entitles the user with the freebie).

Typicall facebook. They hard ban something, then a year later they get through again. My last round of rebills on FB I didn't cloak, they just flat out approved most of my ads. I was hopping this would avoid me getting banning as I can play you approved these shady ads, but nope ban either way.

I think what happens is their review team is a bunch of part time workers that probably quit after a month or two. There is no way they can train all their staff on the "myriad" or ways we affiliates find ways to game the system. So techniques you though were once dead can often times squeeze by.

Sorry for the rant, so I'll leave this comment with a tip.

DON'T DELETE OLD CAMPS: I can't tell you how many times a camp that died due to saturation or lack of offers would grape it once again just 6 months later.

email submit offers are not allowed still. if you can get them on and are slightly creative you can make a ton of money. i was doing 300k /mo on them for a while..

This is a huge tip! I know I have kicked myself in the ass for deleting old campaigns a few times. I need to start an archive!
