What are the keys to success with facebook?

Hello,
as the title states. What things are most important when it comes to advertising on facebook?
Images
ad copy
design

What would you emphasize is the most important?
Just trying to find a good starting point. Anyone that is successful perhaps could chime in. It's difficult to write this message as things aren't how they should be.. The barriers are not just psychological. Well enough said.

images, targeting and, ad copy i would say. US bids are very competitive these days so try something intl and use onehourtranslation.com to translate the ad copy. Dating used to be the easiest vertical on facebook but with all these guidelines and increase in competition its become ALOT harder then it was a year or so ago. Use keyword targeting to your advantage and make sure you track everything in prosper or bevo and optimize. as far as images go, shit sex sells (get my drift)?

I agree with shoent. For Facebook it goes images - targeting and then ad copy.

I been running a dating app campaign and split test 4 images, with the same ad title. Turns out that this one particular image is getting me insane CTRs compared to the other ones.

Of course Targeting is pretty DAMN important as well. I haven't had too much success targeting broad like 25+ Male single interested in female. CTR is crap all around. I would def target as closely as possible to your group and find your angle to market to them and you should be pretty set at the initial steps of a successful fb campaign.

Targetting
Images
Copy
Day Parting

@The Angry Russian Day Parting - question on that.. I had some affiliates tell me that day parting you shouldn't pause campaigns during the day as it may hurt your impressions. But rather lower your bids to .01 - .02 CPC so its not paused but still running. Does that have an effect at all? Just curious to throw that out there.

Interesting strategy I never tried that. I usually just flat out pause and restart when I need to.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I keep hearing to use keywords and thought they phased that out. Looking at my facebook advertising account. Their are two options available for targeting.

Interests:

Precise Interests.

Or

Broad Category Targeting

Where you can choose categories, facebook will narrow down the criteria if someone is in "One" of the categories chosen. Not down to several categories the person has chosen. Such as Basketball, Hip hop/Rap etc.

Such as how POF works.

Occasionally I will get the following options, where it will say

Suggested Likes & Interests

Example for the following interests "Simpsons and Homer".

Once I choose more than one facebook will say.

As you can see I'm quite confused, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Here's my screen shot of my facebook account. As you can see their isn't "Likes". Every screen shot I see has "Likes and Interests".
