No Conversions - What Am I Doing Wrong

Okay, I am going to show my 1st dating campaign and ask for help from anyone who has ideas about making this profitable.

Running blacksingles.com, direct linking, and I just cant get the conversions?

Here are my stats from Facebook

.137 ctr
76 clicks
6 conversions

I spent $63.03 in testing and received $24

Any ideas or recommendations? Also, any changes I make get disapproved and not really sure why because I am only changing targeting, etc?

Try DIFFERENT images. Your conversions will be vastly different with different images. That particular image might get you the click but it certainly wouldn't get the ladies eager to sign up to a dating site.

My Advice: STOP BEING CLEVER

This is an old direct marketing basic. The more clever you are the worse your ads will perform. If I saw that ad I would think thats a huge burger I want some, not anything to do with dating.

CTR is important, but I can write FREE MONEY and get ridiculous CTR but that doesn't mean it will convert. You need to find that perfect balance of CTR and CR.

Haha yeah sometimes we can be to clever for our own good. I sometimes get caught being overly creative when the simple ideas work.

Also you need to drop your CPCs. What are you bidding atm? Have you tried duplicating the campaign with a lower bid?

Thanks for all the help, I was trying something different/humorous and guess I may have gotten to carried away and forgot KISS.

The Angry Russian -"If I saw that ad I would think thats a huge burger I want some, not anything to do with dating." I guess I should have listened to my dad, he said something similar - (he is pushing 80 btw).

Mr Green - My current bid is $1.48, but I am paying $.79 cpc. I never really thought about bidding lower with a new campaign, just kind of took what they gave me and tried getting cpc down through my ctr.

Thanks for the input everyone and I am gonna start again and try something different

Matt, not sure if this helps, but I read somewhere in the book cashvertising (great book), that you should write as if your communicating to the monkey brain .. i.e don't try to be clever.

Regarding the images, i would try split testing on successful looking black dudes. Perhaps the younger chicks want to see a hunk type dude, and maybe the the older ones want to see a sucessful dude.

your CTR will fall mostly on it's own after a few hundred clicks (higher CTR = lower they will fall). After 100+ clicks, you can lower your bid and force the clicks even cheaper than if you were to just let them fall completely on their own. If you force your bids down too fast though, it could stunt the ad and your impressions will stop. At this point, you would then have to increase your bid again.

Yeah, I keep over doing and really need to learn to keep things simple. I ordered the book yesterday and keep hearing nothing but good things. Hopefully it will arrive soon. I found some new images and testing another set of ads now.

Will keep this in mind when playing with cpc. Would running on a cpm basis be better?
