possible method to increase campaign ROI 2-10%

hey guys,

like all of you i am buying a ton of media on FB.

I am thinking about iframing my landing pages, and posting my own pixel.

with this pixel placed I would do some of the following
1.) run re-targeting campaigns if advertiser is not already.
2.) re-target users with similar offers. (advertiser will not like this)
3.) re-target users with offers that work well on an existing demographic.
4.) Attempt to sell pixel information to data supplier (Dataxu.com , Lotame, etc)

i feel like this would some work to implement, but once done would pay a small but consistent dividend.

have you ever done it?

Can i-framing get your account banned?

I'd check that before you do it

Lol I keep typing and deleting my post because I feel like I'm saying too much waaay too soon. Especially since no code has been written yet.

So, I'll just say you have some interesting ideas there...

I don't even think you would need to iframe it in your own LP's, although I think you probably would need to use an iframe pixel on your CPA network's side. What are the mechanics behind building a re-targeting pixel though? I know Google, sitescout etc have their own retargeting pixels, but how do you go about building and then selling/using your own re-targeting pixel?

No need to iframe, just great a page BEFORE sending them to the offer with something like this:

<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<img src="http://www.pixel.here/image.jpg" border="0" />
<script language="javascript">
window.location="http://www.trackinglink.here";
</script>
</body>
</html>
Not sure if this can get you into troubles though. Btw, you can also add your own retargeting pixel when conversion occurs so you have a list of people who actually convert.

Also remember: The universal smart pixel can be used to set or unset retargeting pixels.

This would allow you send them to more than one offer?

and at a later time?

I know what retargeting is but can someone explain how to obtain a retargeting pixel, what it does, and how it should be used on a LP...and why you need to iFrame it?

What do you mean sell pixel information?

This is only after a conversion though correct?

You would need to iframe the offer so that you could add your own code for the pixel. A tracking pixel is kind of like the early days of cookie stuffing where you load code through an image. You could use that code to load cookies that will track the users web activity and retarget ads to them if the have the cookie.

Thank you thomasbhm, I had no idea what the purpose and potential was.

The pixels come from the ad network that you are buying traffic from. On a side note, SiteScout just announced some pretty awesome ways to set retargeting pixels. They are especially useful for affiliates who are direct linking or have no control over the landing page. http://blog.sitescout.com/2013/02/si...-enhancements/

I'll make sure we cover this in our upcoming webinar.

Let's say you are generating a ton of clicks from a dating campaign, it's possible to tag all the people clicking as "single men/women interested in dating" and then sell access to that audience to other marketers for a certain cpm. (0.35-$1.xx) etc. Pixel information is the same as cookie data, it's just a way to tag and identify people as they travel around the web.

If you are buying expensive traffic at a high cpm, it's worth it to be able to retarget that same traffic in the future with related offer etc but at a much cheaper price. It's a bit like how you can capture an email to follow up with people later. The advantage is that you get access to every single person who lands on your page vs 10-20% of the people who opt-in. The downside is that you have to pay to show them ads again, it's not always possible to retarget everyone and sometimes the quality of retargeted traffic is not that great (shady publishers etc).

No problem! Google does this, that's why you will see ads about something you were looking at on a different website. Like I was on this website onnit.com looking to buy supplements that make me smarter and then later on, on different sites, I was seeing ads for 20% off onnit.com. As Mr. Baffoe said, the only website I know of where you can do this is SiteScout. I'm sure there are others, but that's all I'm familiar with. You are basically targeting people that have already converted on a similar offer. Gaming is a niche that comes to mind where this might make sense.
