WebDesign for the Mac.... photoshop (managed to squeeze a couple of 30 day trials before I splash out on it), Fetch for ftp - and FireBug.. Firebug essential as it allows me to grab the code off a page I like, make changes and piece together my own version. Firebug helps me to learn my way around the code and what does what. Awesome plugin that has allowed me to gain a certain degree of coding ability.

Just downloaded SiteSucker which pulls an entire site from the web and into a folder - not used it much yet.

Also started using Googles Chrome developer tools for testing Page Speed, and WC3's HTML Validator to show me mistakes I've made in the coding and learn where I'm going wrong. (although these aren't pages for SEO value, I figure there's no harm in getting your code right to keep pages loading quick - recently discovered that including the 'width' and 'height' variables on all your images helps on load speed as it allows your page to load with the layout whilst the images can load slower - otherwise the page has to wait for each image to load so it knows the position of the next parts of the site)

Photopshop and SiteGrinder for basic stuff. DreamWeaver if I need to make manual edits. Beyond that, the limited amount of HTML I know, I do simple edits in NoteTab++. I try to keep it simple since I don't know jack about coding anyway.

I'm a lazy bastard and because of that I just download pages I like the look of then edit them from there. One of the easiest ways of doing it I've found is using a firefox addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-complete-4723/) - makes life super easy and I'm a big fan of that!! ;-)

Bo.lt is a manageable way to rip landers without using Save Complete. It's pretty decent, in my experience so far.

06-15-2011 03:53 PM #12 theguvna ()

If youre on a mac try SiteSucker.

06-15-2011 04:41 PM #13 kyleirwin (Member)

httrack, scrapbook and bo.lt.

i kid, i kid. photoshop, notepad++ and vim.

i usually do use other landing pages for "inspiration", and may straight up jack one for a quick test. but if i see promise in something i always code a new one up from scratch. most aff landing pages look like they were written by a 4th grader (code, not content. 4th grade level content is good). i've never met a LP that i couldn't make load faster, convert better, and display better to the user.

the most common thing i see screw'd with aff LPs is the width of the page. pretty much all of us have some stupid screen resolution, but for most demographics the most common screen size is still 1024x768. you want to design/code your pages so that there are no horizontal scrollbars at that res... you'd be surprised how many people straight up ignore that.

I write everything by hand in vim using HAML/SASS and Photoshop. I come from web dev so this is most comfortable to me. If I were to abstract the process by using a wysiwyg tool or a site ripper I'd probably end up clawing my eyes out. I don't shy away from fancy JS stuff and for that jQuery + CoffeeScript are my weapons of choice. Yeah I got that nerd in me.

I was actually having this problem a few days ago. What is the easiest way to make your site look the same on all browsers?

This. Although if you are on a budget you could substitute this with Gimp and Komodo Edit.

Firebug, Photoshop and notepad.

Here is a awsome professional template if you want to create a opt-in or other landing page from scratch: http://zacjohnson.com/create-killer-...free-template/

It has this "ugly/homemade" effect as well what works.

I think the best tool for doing pages quick is WYSIWYG we builder it does a bangup job on quick lps esp for PPV.....

The only issue with it its kinda its own beast and doesn't play with others well dreamweaver, etc....but the drag and drop interface makes it real easy to add stuff like video and sound....

Photoshop + WYSWIWYG Web Builder.

The key is to make WYSWIWYG Web Builder work independently
without having to insert dynamic tags in DW or notepad.

I'll throw up a guide to doing just that when I get the time.

(And they need to change the name of their software I always
get a headache after typing it.)

- photoshop and notepad++ for 1page-landers, tests etc.
- wordpress for dynamic stuff, product lists etc.

Another vote for wysiwyg websitebuilder7 I looked into this a while back and I reckon it is easily the fastest & easiest way to build PPv Landing pages

The guide would be great! I'm currently using notepad to insert dynamic tags after creating LP in WYSWIWYG Web Builder.

Adobe Muse is pretty good for knuckledraggers who don't know much about html.

Photoshop + Dreamweaver + Text Editor

I have 100's of swiped landers and 1000's of Web Graphics in PSD format! Buttons, Headers, etc, etc, etc...!!!
