I mentioned I was working on an email verification service, here it is www.mxverify.com
What does it do? In a nutshell, it processes your list and tells you which emails are valid, which are invalid and will likely bounce and get you in trouble. You're much safer sending out email campaigns after verification.
I know a lot of you don't care about email, but take a look and give me some feedback if you would.
Service Status: Beta (2/26/2013)
Verification backend (100% complete)
Website (90% complete)
Backend for users to log in and manage their account (in progress)
I don't mean to self-promote, and I hope I am not violating any forum rules. I intend to target email marketers and bulk senders who will need this service to stay in business. I am just looking for feedback.
If anyone cares for this, prices on the site are 50% off comparable services like BriteVerify, STMers get an additional 50% off. If you want a free trial let me know and I'll verify 1,000 emails for you.

Notes on my experience creating this
- The barrier to entry is pretty high. It requires the technical knowledge to set up dedicated servers with dedicated IPs configured a certain way that allows them to ping mail servers without getting banned. Even more difficult if you are trying to set this up in the United States vs. unregulated parts of the world.
- It's a massive project, but there are very few companies doing this out there right now, so there is a lot of opportunity.
- It's a lot of fun, if your idea of fun is going to bed at 6am after a night of working on some tight code.
- It takes a lot of monies to hire people and set up a proper infrastructure, but at least that's the one thing no one here at STM is short on.
