Hi all, i read in one of the posts by mr.green about the steps taken while running a campaign to getting it profitable, and thought we could learn from other peoples basic method, it went something like this :
1.Pick one offer
2.Make 10 ad copies with 5 images
3.Let it run for a day
4.Split test landers
5.Split test demographics
6.SCALE!
etc
Something along those lines, so what are yours ?
Those are pretty solid guidelines to follow. As you gain more experience I'm sure you will tweak them slightly for your own preferences. A few things I would also consider when you're getting started are:
-Keep an eye out for offers that will work well with the same ad copy/images so you are ready to keep testing if the offer is paused or hits cap. This can also be looked at as an offer level split test if you find ad copy/image combinations that show promise.
-Based on your desired daily spend make sure pick an offer that will allow an adequate amount of testing per the payout. I know a lot of people like to use the offer payout (or a multiple of the payout) as a guideline for the amount of traffic they like to send to an offer before determining if they want to move forward with the campaign. Don't pick offers that may be out of your staring spend range and end up having to kill campaigns before they get a sufficient amount of data to make the call. CPM or CPC play a factor in this decision as well, this will become second nature once you get more familiar with the vertical.
-When it comes to split testing your landers try to go from big to small when adding or removing variables. For instance, start with 2 completely different styles of landing page, then as you drill down try to start testing smaller and smaller variables such as background or txt color. And never make to many changes so you can't figure out what change increased or decreased CTR or conversions.
Most importantly make a plan and ride it out. Getting started is normally one of the hardest parts.
