Dating In Sitescout

Dear all,

I would like to promote dating in Sitescout but I have some questions:

  1. Should I choose 1 offer and test it on a bunch of sites or a bunch of offers on 1 sites?
  2. Direct linking v.s. Landing page?
  3. I have watched polarbacon's webinar and watched that ugly banners that have only a "chat" button or chat box style ones work. But I don't think Sitescout is allowing them anymore. What do you guys suggest?
  4. Do you use angles when promoting dating on Sitescout? Coz in my mind media buying, unlike social traffic, requires a broder targeting.
  5. In POF, 1000 impressions is enough to determine the performance of an ad. What about media buys? How much impressions will you put on one banner before deciding to keep or cut it?
  6. Do you promote in very high volume sites like Facebook, youtube? If yes, how can you deal with the problem that many offers have age/gender restrictions? Also, will you ad be targeting male or female?
  7. Overall, do you think promoting dating in SS is feasible?

Different people might have different answers. Let's see how different marketers handle dating in SS!

Thanks x 100000000 in advance!

ill try to answer the first few,

test always at least 3 offers per site. always rotate direct linking first to see if the offer converts, then add landing page as well to see if you can increase ROI. use animated gifs, sitescout still allows them but dont make them look like facebook.

with sitescout its very easy to overspend and spend a lot, unlike pof, you can burn through a few huundred bucks in like 2 seconds. so make sure to set a small minimim daily cap

Thanks vidivo!

So your approach is to rotate offers on different sites.

Will you start with 1 site or a lot of sites? How do you choose sites? Based on demographics research in alexa.com?

I had a $300-500+/np day dating campaign, until SS banned it.... I'll try and answer your questions.

1. I tried one offer on multiple websites (separated by category). I.e. Anime (decent volume) for mostly nerdy males.

2. DL I had a 20% ROI, with LP I had 80% ROI

3. SiteScout does not allow facebook style banners. They are also very strict on the image, as bad as facebook. Good luck getting cleavage or skin through. I found that animated borders works quite well with Red + black text. But it depends on the site you are advertising on.

4. Angles are required, I kept mine gender based. I.e. Nerdy guys gets hot GF etc. I also tried a slash page, i.e. are you male / female, depending on the option it would direct to the gender specific angle. That worked quite well on some website, terrible on others. lol

5. 2x payout (for the banner, then again for the website).

6. I was running CPS, so there was no age restriction.

7. Yes, but it is hard. There are easier places to advertise, with more traffic and less competition, such as adult (no branded advertisers).

I'd stay away from RON, it will take forever to filter through the shit websites (There are a lot of shit sites). I would also stay away from their demographic targeting option - I could not get it to work, it was so expensive and no volume.

Good luck, you will probably need to burn a lot before you hit a winner.

Thanks so much panthary!

When you say 300-500/np a day campaign, are you earning that much on ONE site?

I don't quite get point number 5. Let's say the offer payout is $5. You will then spend $10 on a banner, right? But if you have say 3 banners, you will be spending $30 on ONE site already. So 2x payout is for a site or a banner?

I agree that RON is not good and demo targeting means little traffic. Coz I have tried them both and lost money lolllll

Thanks again panthary!

May i know how can your campaign get banned from SS? Is there any explanation for what they did? or just like FB, "Sorry, the decision is final" lol

I was buying that across multiple websites 20-30 sites that made around $10 - $30 a day on average. I had a lot of difficulty trying to scale the campaign.

5. The cost of the banner testing was included as the cost of testing the websites. In other words, it was spread across all the websites (not the best way to do it, but I didn't have a massive budget). I'm not sure how else to explain it

"Sorry, the decision is final"

Yep, pretty much. It was a PUA offer, I was running/tweaking for 2 months. No problems or issues, one day I tried to log into my account, it was banned. I had to contact support for them to unban my account, then I found my campaigns were all denied. Apparently, "one of the networks had a problem with the offer"...

I asked SS to just block the network that had a problem with it, so I could run on the other networks...SS wouldn't or couldn't.

Luckily, I found another platform that is willing to carry it and it's running nicely.
