EWA, Closing Their Doors
Dear EWA Affiliates,
First off, I would like to personally apologize as truly and honestly as I can for everything that EWA Private Network has put our publishers through these past months. It's been a turbulent road for my company and it's taken quite the toll on me and the staff around me. Believe it or not, I care about the reputation of my company I care about the publishers in my network - it burdens me daily to see what has happened. We incurred massive losses due to non-paying merchants, combined with internal problems lead to a situation which needed an outside investor to help resolve.
I spent upwards of a year seeking individuals and companies to invest into EWA and the entire process of finding an investor was draining on me - I was lead on and let down many times. Unfortunately, our most recent investor possibility ended up falling through leaving EWA with no other options. We have decided that it's time to close our doors while we continue to seek a new investor to take over the company. Meanwhile, we will be working with a restructuring agent to liquidating our receivables and sell our assets in a way to repay outstanding payables.
Leaving EWA Network on a note like this was the absolute hardest choice I've made in my business career. I gave it my absolute 100% best and tried the hardest that I could, spending hours a day trying to make this company the best that it could be. Running EWA Network for these past four years and interacting with the thousands of EWA affiliates has been one of the best experiences that I've had, and I'd like to apologize once again to all our clients for the situation that we were put in.
Finally, I would like to apologize to our staff - especially the account managers, international partners, and our network manager on the front lines everyday. They were put into a situation where they were at the mercy of the companies problems. I accept the blame fully for it, and I want nothing that happened to the company reflect onto their shoulders because they did the best they did with cards they were dealt. When we thought the investor was coming through, I told them to pull - and when we were left empty handed, they were the ones to take the blame. They were the lifeblood of our company and I appreciate every minute they spent making EWA great.
On March 1st, 2013 we will be pausing all traffic to EWA publishers. Thank you for your years of support and the millionsof dollars in revenue that has run through EWA Network. It's been amazing to see the growth of so many publishers since the beginning and I'm truly grateful for every single one of you.
To Success,
Ryan Eagle, Partner

EWA was a great network in the beginning and i learned alot from my manager and Ryan Eagle. I was wise enough to stop sending traffic when it was a hassle to get paid and the accountant would not respond to my email.
I wish Ryan the best and hope he gets back on his feet

yeah, EWA was one of the first cpa networks I ran with. Sucky situation, but I hope all turns out well for those that were let go. Hell, a lot of them have landed back on their feet.

Ryan Eagle is still a great inspiration to me and I'm sad to see EWA go even though I never sent them much traffic.
But it has to be said that my AM was a total fucking idiot. He would make fun of me when I asked him questions instead of helping me out.
RIP EWA.

I just got this email too and had mixed feelings as I read it.
I had some of my first profitable campaigns with EWA and enjoyed working with them when things were good. But, like many others I left the network feeling frustrated, sick of having to chase down my payments, and tired of having to pause campaigns because I was waiting on EWA to pay me.
I wish Ryan and everyone at EWA the best but I'm glad the "EWA owes me money" threads will be coming to an end.

His letter is pathetic. It reads as "oh, the burden! poor little me, you should feel sorry for me". Judging from some of the responses in this thread, it looks like it worked.

Yeah, it's the investors fault, not his... He was let down
Poor Ryan, but I'm so happy to hear that he is "grateful for the millions of dollar in revenue over the years".
Now I can sleep at night, knowing Ryan is grateful for our money.

also EWA's last 6 months behavior was pathetic.
But today I'm so happy they bounced my first payment (low $xxx) so i stopped sending traffic without hesitation.

According to this page, AffPaying has not been fair to its visitors, deleting all EWA's reviews for 3 months (sort results by date).

Are they going to file Chapter 11 or what ? Or this is just an excuse to seize outstanding payments for $XXX.XXX and start over under new company name ?

The latter, of course. Probably as a silent owner with a fake (Fiverr again?) frontman.

Like the guy or not, I'm sure Ryan will land on his feet.
He'll have to graft balls to the walls to earn back trust. A lot of affiliates got burnt with EWA.
That happens, but I think it was the way the demise was dragged out that has eaten up the goodwill. Honesty and transparency goes a long way.

Take it from a network owner. It's very easy to get upside down in this business.
There's 3 things you should ask a network
1. What % of your network revenue is the 2 top advertisers?
2. What % of money does your network write off per year?
3. What happens if you top biggest advertisers don't pay for some reason? Do you have cash reserves to cover it?
They may lie to you but I'd at least be asking these things. I've stated a few times we run our network like a bank. Diversified portfolio of offers so if one doesn't pay us it doesn't sink the ship. Also, a nice balance of higher credit risk partners and lower credit risk. Then keep cash on had to make sure if something does happen payments are never a day late.

oh well, I'm going to miss the newsletters, propaganda and all the extra info and guides that Ryan shared over the years with the affiliates. Yeah all the non payment issues, drama, and lies kinda sucked. Shame on anyone considering joining the obey network lol
Really this proves how badly this business needs regulation. It was amazing watching EWA succeed with the whole affiliate e-thug approach. Affiliate networks need to be run like banks by people who act professionally or else all quality control and trust is gone. Affiliates scam the network and advertisers refuse to pay. Has to be more accountability too when people dont get paid. This type of stuff will only get worse.
