Beyond Hosting?

Anyone have a phone number? My server has now been down an hour and they aren't responding to my support tickets. Ridiculous if they don't have 24 hour support. This sucks.

Ha alright I was wondering the same thing just now

02-14-2013 07:16 AM #3 pokersensei (Member)

Your server is down also?

02-14-2013 07:17 AM #4 thomasbhm (Member)

yeah, I seem to be having the same issue :/

02-14-2013 07:19 AM #5 pokersensei (Member)

Guess that explains why they aren't responding to support tickets. Not good.

02-14-2013 07:20 AM #6 mscimitar (Member)

Yeah, had to pause everything after I realized I burned some cash and nothing was showing up on the networks. First thought it was a problem on just a network, then saw all of them were not showing activity. Oh well, good time to call it a night I guess.

Are you all on a VPS or dedi? My dedi has been running with no hiccups. Hopefully you guys are up and running soon!

Server monitoring is a virtue.

02-14-2013 08:20 AM #16 pokersensei (Member)

Back online also. 104 minutes of downtime according to pingdom.

02-14-2013 11:13 AM #17 dr_ngo ()

They've been having a lot of downtime lately.

Server without a 24/7 PHONE for emergency.. It's REALLYYYYY frustrating sometimes... considering there's so many of us here that uses BH, they should implement this asap. 1 bad review goes a looooooong way. Hope you're reading this tyler

We will be performing scheduled network maintenance on Wednesday, February 13th from 6AM to 3PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

During this window we will be performing the final core router hardware upgrades and applying software updates to existing infrastructure devices. We would like to warn you that during this time multiple brief outages could occur as devices reboot and come back online. We will do our absolute best to minimize any downtime and we apologize for the inconvenience.

ESTIMATED Procedure Times:

6AM to 7AM (Bring old devices offline gracefully -- no expected impact)
7AM to 9AM (Installation of new network equipment -- no expected impact)
9AM to 11AM (Bring new devices online and begin network convergence -- brief tcp timeouts and latency expected)
11AM to 3PM (Upgrade switch software -- brief 5-10 minute outages for reboots)

This is the final network upgrade and we do not anticipate any further changes for 2013.

Thank you for understanding.

Regards,
Beyond Hosting
They had an upgrade. Just read your emails guys.

BeyondHosting has incredible customer support. I just upgraded my servers the other day. I asked them about 080324 questions and opened about 20 support tickets. They were on top of everything and even responded to me at 3 AM. They even helped me out with a technical issue with a service that I bought from another company...

Beyond hosting has some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. I highly recommend them.

I received notice from them that the scheduled maintenance was completed yesterday around 1:30pm EST..
So this outage seems to be well after the scheduled maintenance..

I've actually been considering expanding into a dedi with Beyond to host more of my properties, but this concerns me...

They told me there was a server crash. I wonder why they are not here yet...

The upgrade was already completed. This was a separate issue.

Can someone tell me what time (and timezone you're in) this happened? I'm looking through my stats for yesterday (2/14) and trying to see if this outage matches up...I've seen some interesting numbers.

EDIT: also, anyone know if their CDN was affected too?

02-15-2013 06:27 AM #26 dario (Member)

I see you're in LA, in your timezone the issue took place Feb. 13th at 11.20PM PST (about 24h ago)

02-15-2013 08:32 AM #27 nissangtr (Member)

@pokersensei Since you use pingdom to monitor, what response times are you getting?

02-15-2013 08:40 PM #28 doryphoros (Member)

Anyone noticing issues still? Like slow load times?

02-21-2013 12:22 AM #29 mi6430 (Member)

BeyondHosting charges $360 for their average dedicated server plan where others, including knowhost, are half that. Why anyone would pay that much for a dedicated server is beyond me. I have been with knownhost for 4 years and very happy.

02-21-2013 12:43 AM #30 sandyone (Member)

Does knownhost help set up geo redirects, cpvlabs, propser, STM Mobile tracking?

BeyondHost really caters to us.

02-21-2013 12:48 AM #31 zeno (Administrator)

Unless you have data specifically comparing response times/redirect times, ability under load, general performance metrics etc. then comparing the prices of the two is like comparing a $5000 Toyota Hilux to a $50,000 Jeep Cherokee without ever seeing what they look like or driving one...

My point is, things are often more expensive for a reason. If you aren't been running BIG volume then you probably wouldn't notice any reason to be unhappy with a cheap dedicated elsewhere. That being said... it's possible that server A from BH gives 15% faster redirects and page load times in general than server B from Knownhost, which could give a revenue boost greater than the price difference. The vice versa could also be true. If I get a dedicated, I will probably go with BH regardless simply because I know they know the IM game... so when it comes to the performance I want, I know we are on the same page.

My 2c.

Are you serious? To answer your question, yes they setup my geo redirects and maxmind geo database. Honestly thought, you would pay $360 for life just because you need a ONE TIME setup of those products. Even if they did not, just hire a tech from Elance and he would do it for you for less than $200.
