Trying to understand cloaking...

Okay so this is the sections for noob questions right? haha :P

So have a basic idea of the concept of cloaking, but I don't really understand how or why it needs to be run. A couple questions:

1. What is cloaking for? Is it so Facebook thinks your LP directs to a different offer?

2. How is it done?

I have intermediate skills in php so I don't think it will be much of a problem to grasp once I understand it a bit more.

Thanks for the input!

The traffic source reviewers see one page while the customers see another.

Cloak leaking isn't the only issue that will burn the FB account. The number of complaints on the offer is what burns the FB accounts so fast.

Ok that makes sense. So it's a combo of cloaking/manual reviews and questionable images that's causing these accounts to be banned.

The main reason accounts get banned is due to people clicking the "x" on the ad.
If enough people do it, it flags your account up for review.

In regards to your 2nd question of "How is it done?"...It's typically done by learning the IP ranges of the manual review team. Unless you have access to a database of those IPs, I wouldn't risk trying to build your own cloaker.
You are much better off just going with one of the paid options out there.

Not to make this entirely a FB cloak thread, but I've wondered, is there any chance of getting your personal FB account banned if they bring the banhammer down on your advertising account (since in theory they'd be from the same IP?) I don't personally care too much, but I think my wife would have my head in a jar if hers got banned...

it happened to my friend. he lost his personal account, but you can plead to fb to get the personal account back. when i got banned, i did not lose the personal account. so to answer your question, yes its possible to lose your personal account.
