Speed Up Your Database Queries and Website

That's a good and useful article - I'd expect nothing less from Smashing Magazine.

Having said that, for most AMs this stuff probably isn't their most critical issue. Most of the time if you're using Prosper or another tool which stores its tracking code in the footer, your database shouldn't be slowing down your landing pages. However, it MAY be slowing down your redirects. Alternatively, if it's getting to the point where database usage is affecting your entire server's stability, that can massively slow down your pages.

Either way, database usage is not usually as much of an issue for simple AM applications as it is for Wordpress and similar CMS users. (I did a lot of Wordpress back when I was doing more SEO, and it's a bloody nightmare for database usage.) Their mention of various website profiling tools IS very useful, though - I'll be writing some more articles about using similar things for AM-specific testing in the next week or so.

Nice share, anyway! It's always worth learning as much as you can about this stuff!
