Newbie with knowledge...but need help with getting my first campaign setup....

Hey guys,

New here.....so here's the scoop.

I have studied quite a bit over the past few months alot of the stuff by Scott Rewick(His huge media buying course, and traffic bandits), Mike Morgan, Melvin Perry and several others to learn the basics of media buying.

Here's the issue I need a kind friend to help me with. Help me along with getting my first campaign setup. I have alot of knowledge but it is kinda fuzzy still because I haven't applied any of it to actually learn it first hand experience.

Here's what I have decided so far:

I am going to be marketing a dating offer (already decided which one)...

I want to use and get my feet wet with self serve ad networks (site scout maybe) and I want to learn this one traffic stream and learn it well and master it.

I have access to what runs where to speed up the process of getting ads that get decent CTR.

Here's where I need help: I need a person with experience to come along side and help me work through the steps of getting my first campaign setup....stuff like getting adservers and prosper 202 setup seems kinda daunting at this point.....I will need help with this. As I said I have alot of knowledge...just haven't applied it and I learn very well by going through the steps of doing.

Anybody willing to help via skype or others with getting me on my feet and walking?

No offense but if you have "alot of knowledge" and "I learn very well by going through the steps of doing" then you just have to do it. It doesn't get any simpler than setting up a campaign.

Problem is...the stuff I studied covered a lot about media buying but very little about setting up the backend stuff....I don't even know where to start with the backend stuff....

get a starter VPS from Beyond Hosting and buy CPVLab. They will set it up CPVLab for you. Whenever an update comes out for CPVLab you can ask them to install it for you and they'll do it. Certainly made my life easier.

CPV is kinda steep....considering I just invest in here and still need to invest in What runs where....doesn't prosper 202 do the same thing? Is there a big learning curve to getting 202 setup?

I had someone instal p202 for me when I used it so I don't know. CPVLab is awesome because it's simple to rotate landing pages and offers without having to write scripts. It's a challenging task on p202 if you don't know what you're doing.

So you're going to start off with media buying, but you're concerned with spending money on a tracking software that will make your life easier? I haven't tried media buying yet so I could be wrong, but don't you need a large budget to test properly? I'm no expert, but if you're a newbie on a budget you're probably better starting off with Facebook or POF.

No I have about a grand to start with(thats my budget...I have more...but I want to cap it at that)....I just don't want to use 500 of it before I even get started ;-) Now that you put it that way it would probably be just what I need unless I want to have an army of outsourcers to take care of writing scripts etc....is CPV lab have much of a learning curve to it?

Everything has a learning curve to it mate ! But cpvlab is the most user friendly i find, it's well worth the price !

Also, you might wanna check some other traffic source than media buys, cause you'll loose your $1000 a few hours time, may be pof, mobile, ...

From my experience, nobody should jump right into media buys before having a lot of experience and succesfull campaigns.

When I say Media buys I am meaning self serve ad networks......like site scout, acknowledge, adroll etc....I got the offer I want to do.....and its converting decently....decent EPC....what I was planning on doing is swiping some creatives from WRW and mixing them up a bit and running 25-50$ mini campaigns to test traffic till I find a good one and then improve on it and scale....

So correct me if I am wrong but CPVlabs will replace my need for both an adserver and a tracking/analytics software-backend?

You said you have 1 K right ? no offense buddy why running before walking ?

I would recommend go with Facebook or PPV ( Leadimpact ) to get used on the process of setting up campaigns and optimization... Once you feel comfortable with the process and started to make some money you can try to move on your next shiny thing...

Leadimpact allow you to build small campaigns like spend 15 - 20 / day which is exactly your goal. Sitescout ( not sure if serious ) you'll need a decent budget to test a lot of aspects to get profitable and many many times you won't get profitable after spending decent $$$. You need to optimize Sites - Subdomains - Freq Cap - Creatives - Landing Pages pretty much everything, Now the question do you have budget for all of this ?

Just go to beyond host and get a vps / prosper 202 setup, Get leadimpact account, Work with only 1 - 2 networks and build campaigns.

Good luck

Do you think lead impact is gonna be easier to get a profitable campaign.....I meanit seems pretty straightforward.....do some KW research and bid on high traffic buying keywords....track your CTR and work on getting more CT's and better conversions? Am I missing something?

turbo948 . It's not easy to copy whatrunswhere campaign into SS and make it profitable same day.
You will learn all from your own experience. Many pubs are re-targeting their stuffs and hence there are chances that many placements won't work for you.

Yes but I'd rather learn banners and stick with banners....with this in mind is there a better option than site scout? Should I go with cpc before I tackle cpm?
