Google Display Network, i want to go big

Hey guys,

I'm currently trying to advertise some dating offers in the Google Display Network with image ads. (as of now, only Germany)

However, I'm far from being pleased with the results

My current CTR is 0,03%, with a total of 145k impressions and 500 clicks. Out of them, only 2 leads.

I guess the CR is that low, because I'm direct linking and also im targeting users with the interest "social networks". So thats very, very broad ... i guess.

Does anybody of you have experience with advertising dating offers in the Google Display Network using image ads? I pretty sure im far away from the right targeting, but im willing to learn and invest some money in it.

If you need anything more and got any tips, please post it in the thread

PS: I got a nice LP up, and will send some traffic to it tomorrow. Will report back, of course!

no i only use image ads, thanks for your advice.

update

i am now using a landing page no more direct linking. i am testing 2 offers edates and flirtcafe for german markt.

impressions: 520k
banner clicks: 2300
lp clicks: 1400
edates: 400 clicks no leads i don't send more traffic to it
flirtcafe: 1000 clicks 20 leads
revenue : 60€
cost: 20€
profit: 40€

I think Ctr on lp is very good but cr rate really sucks, can some recommand me a good german offer i also tried: neu.de, c-date, b2, freidscout24, parship.de, edarling, elitepartner.

I am now targeting all interests and set filter for only male between 18-44 years.

what do you guy think should i go with different niche i also tried diet pills, car insurance, gold fonds. i can get really cheap clicks but cr rate always sucks.

I think your CR rate is very low just like your CPC. You say you can always get cheap clicks and that certainly looks to be the case but did you ever think the reason the clicks are so cheap are BECAUSE they will not usually convert well?

On Google Display network you can use their pixel and see where the conversions are coming from and optimize towards that. You might end up with more expensive clicks but more profit as well and that's more important.

I also think you should stick to that niche you've got. $60 revenue on $20 spend while you were split testing 2 offers? Sounds like you can work from there no problem.

thanks for your input

i can get those cheap clicks because of my method i can get cheap clicks in every niche.

good input with the pixle unfortunately the network i use don't support that, it is a german network.

new stats

impressions: 900k
clicks: 3800
lp clicks: 1800
leads: 42
revanue: 126€
cost: 40€
profit: 86€

so cr is still really low

what do you guys think should i try it in us or a differnt geo, i am also buliding a new lp rigth now to splittest them.

also can someone recommand a good cpa network with lots of international dating offers.

thanks for your help guys

What kind of lander do you use?

01-12-2013 11:33 PM #7 atom64 ()

i use a lander with a geo script. on left side is map with the location of the visitor with some possible girls in the area, the girls a clickable with link to the offer. on the right side there is some text, how good the dating site is with a call to action button

stats update for today

impressions: 1.203.699
clicks: 4891
lp clicks: 2367
leads: 56
revanue: 168€
cost: 50€
profit: 118€

cr is still very low i hope i can increase that.

i am going to build a new lander splittest the 2 lps. translate the landing page in english and try to target the us markt. i try to find new offers for germany. i also want try to use a pop under script with some webcam offers.

anyone got another idea to get a higher cr?

how about a rules lp?

01-13-2013 01:17 AM #9 atom64 ()

it is like a rules lp, with something like that: you may find girls you know, you don't tell anyone about them and a couple more rules and the call to action button is that you accept the rules.

i think the lp is good at least the ctr is good about 48%. i am going to build an other one to splittest.

i think the biggest mistake right now is the offer

update

just finished my new lander, i am also building 2 more so in total there are 4 landers when the next banners are approved. I translated my landing pages in english to see how it is working in the us. i created 4 new banners 2 for germany and 2 for us, hope they get approved soon.

200% ROI, CR is too low. Pick one.

Seriously just up your spend and keep testing while the money rolls in.

yeah, scale that puppy now. I just want to know how you got the bridge page through Google...

03-11-2013 01:30 AM #15 redrummr (Member)

Guys, Google is a little more lax about stuff they allow on the Display Network. If you're worried, cloak.

03-11-2013 02:16 AM #16 polarbacon (Moderator)

just a tip on this camp.....this will get hit for a bridge page violation....thin pages like a rules page are against the adwords tos....

you can direct link all day long....you just can't run a lp like that....

for sure you will be able to get it live and run it for a bit.....but as your spend goes up....you will get flagged...

how could you get those dirty cheap clicks in GCN?

12-28-2013 07:22 PM #18 marinhogomes (Member)

As you spend more on Google the clicks get cheaper... and it also depends on the region where
you are advertising.
