Successful PPV campaign on TrafficVance and LeadImpact

Hi guys!

I've been here for quite a while now and I must admit that learning how to convert paid traffic is not something that is easy. It took me a while to learn how to set up and use tracking, both CPVLab (the support has been really really helpful) and 202tracking. Then I needed to learn which source of traffic is best for my niche and which campaign (CPC or PPV) works best. Nevertheless, after a couple of months I seemed to start getting it and now after a year it became pretty successful for me. Not only has it been a long and painful learning curve, but also costly. But as you can see in my avatar - NO RISK NO FUN

Anyway, I believe that after a year or so I can finally add my 2 cents here. It seems that for the financial niche, PPV is much more successful than CPC. Another thing - however obvious to some of you this might sound - is that testing is crucial. I've tested several landing pages before I found the one with the biggest CTR. Picking up the best targets is tedious but is probably one of the most important things to bear in mind. And yet another thing is to pick the right offer. I've learned that some of the affiliate networks cheat… yeah they cheat! They do not pay you for each lead and you waste your time and money. All of this, however, still does not guarantee your best results and you often need to find your own way to make this work, but once you do it can really pay you off.

Although it is slowly starting to pay off on TV, I still have some questions and need your advice when it comes to LeadImpact. I know I'm in the right place! I've found people here very helpful.

I've been wondering how to increase my income with paid traffic. I've picked 2 traffic providers: trafficvance and leadimpact. I'm in the financial niche, as I said before and I've picked some of the targets that convert well on TV. However, these same targets do not convert well on LI (CR is a bit lower and leads are of much less quality). How can it be? Do you have any ideas on how to solve this? How can I improve my targets on leadimpact?

Also, are there any tricks or hints about leadimpact I should know about?

Hey, first congrats for not giving up and making some profit.

LI and TV are both PPV but have very different demographics and ad serving ways.

This is why there is a difference in conversions for the same targets.

From my experience LI has a bit of a lower quality also because they show pops more often to the same user ( I think they have no cap at all ).

TV shows a pop once every couple hours.

However , LI has more volume than TV and less competition , so this makes up for their lower conversions.

I have spent 2x-3x the amount on LI that I have spent on TV and LI has def made me more money , so keep testing.

Hi bbrock,
Thanks for your reply. Actually I'm pretty surprised to see that you think leadimpact has bigger volume than trafficvance. It might depend on the niche, though. However, as for the competition - that's true... there's much less of it in LI. You also mentioned different demographics and ad serving ways. Can you dwell on it please?

I am pretty sure LI has more traffic , or at least had 4-5 months ago when I last ran there.

I have talked to couple other big PPV pubs that say the same thing.

TV lost most of their userbase 1 or 1.5 years ago when their software was detected as a virus by Norton.

As for demographics , from my experience, LI works better for offers suited to younger people. For example win an ipad / ringtones / casual dating / email submits.

TV has worked well for me for finance / bizzops / as seen on tv offers etc.

So I think the avg TV user is a bit smarter and more educated than the avg LI user.

This brings to another point. Generally flashy landers with crazy effects tend to work much better on LI. Same goes for sound.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

WOW thanks for the info. I've had no idea about this it seems that the demographics on leadimpact is not really my target since I'm promoting mainly financial products. Do you know any alternatives with a bit older (can also be less educated) audience? What about mediatraffic or adonnetwork or directcpv?

My experience in the past with adon network is that the traffic doesn't convert at all. (Your mileage may vary)

Essentially, the only use for AdOn that I've seen is bolstering your traffic numbers to show to affiliate managers. "Look-- my website gets 1,000,000 uniques a month...it says so right here in Compete.com"

Congratulations on your success and thanks for sharing. One thing that stuck out to me you said was about the network scrubbing. How do you know this and wondering who you are talking about? I understand if you don't want to say publicly but it could help others avoid this in the future.
