Worst Year Start EVER - Venting

Just want to went myself and get some motivation from fellow stackers.
Here's how my year started:
Lost my adwords account, lost all fb accounts, lost my Bing/Yahoo campaigns that
that were bringing me cash since 2006, so Jan 4th till now is first time that i don't
make money online since 2003.
I feel so bad that im not even turning ON my desktop to start testing new campaigns.
I hope this feeling will go away in couple of days, so i can start fking working again.
Thats it. I actually feel better after writing this

Everything is cyclical man. Seems like bad things happen in clumps and then it can turn on a dime into very good periods. You need the bad times in life in order to be able to appreciate the good times when they inevitably come back.

Take a couple of days off and clear your head and come up with a mental plan for how to come back stronger.

Now get to work

That's what differ entrepreneurs (internet marketers) from other people - the ability to start it from the beginning when you lost all your income sources, the ability to move forward despite of all the roadblocks. Never give up man! Good luck!

Dude at least you don't have a lot of overhead that still costs money if you're not making money.

Our second half of '12 was horrible. The primary business we were in diet/skin/bizopp we had to drop after paying the FTC, 1 MILLION DOLLARS.

Overhead was built for a company that was doing huge numbers and 80%+ of that business had to be stopped. So I pulled money out of my savings to pay everyone and keep things going believing we could turn it around.

With that said in that 6 month process we're now at 60% of where we were running all that scammy stuff. We were down about to about 20% of our average historical at the low point. It took 5 months to go from 20% to 35%. Then from 35% to 60% in the last 1 month. We'll be bigger then we were with diet/skin/bizopp in another 2-3 months I believe.

Having all your shit go away makes you better. I know that sounds weird, but it's an amazing opportunity to step back, clear the slate and say ok knowing all that I have learned and building from scratch how can I take what I know and build something 100x's the size that I had before.

Where was I limited? How do I get around that?
Was I building an asset worth something at the end of the day?
Was I building something sustainable and a real business? How could I with the skills, relationships, knowledge I have?

One thing I realized is I had almost none of the basics of a real business. Financial projections, employee agreements, infrastructure design, systems with checks and balances, etc. The only thing I had a super solid system for was making sure affiliate were paid on time. Cause I was an affiliate and that's all that mattered to me so that's what I made sure I had a system for. We've sense re-arranged all of that to build something solid and growable with 2 year plans for growth and department structures including support staff, middle management and everything else we need to grow.

With all that said take this time to figure out where you want to be in 5 years. You're not tied to anything right now. You have a blank slate to work with. Make a goal you want to get to and start working backwards.

If you put in some work on building this plan and want some help as far as insights and opportunities out there you can fill into your plan feel free to hit me on skype.

Go pick up a couple clients. Dealing w/ that for a few months/weeks/days/minutes usually motivates me to get back to work on AM offers.

don't let yourself down, it's just some accounts. you still have all the know how and experience acquired in this years. You'll be back on track in no time. As Smaxor said, make a plan and start one step at a time.

And one more thing. Use this as an opportunity to test new things. It's very easy to get trapped into one traffic source (like facebook or adwords) and miss a lot of other opportunities that can maybe bring a much better ROI with a lot less head aches.

Good point - losing my google campaign in 2009 during the rebill craze was the best thing that ever happened to me. Seemed like the end of the world at the time.

That's why I love STM so much. When you're down, you can always find the strength to get back up from all the members here. They are just here to lend you their hands. Kudos to those who made a reply to this thread! Truly respect!

Yup, thank you all.
Too bad i'm still @#$% up. Its those time where whatever you
try, everything works against you. My cash flow is going down
and will have to cancel all my forums subscriptions, tools, trackers
in a couple of months.
I %$#^^ hate this period.

BTW glad you recovered fast

Well done godspeed. Like Dario said, it was just a matter of time. All the best but what ever you did, now double it

Congrats man! From my experience affiliate marketing is like a rolloer coaster , goes up and down. However the up moments make enough to cover a lot of down times

Been there, done that, lost everything I had... I can only tell you, start working smarter now. Build real assets, build something outside of affiliate marketing (i.e: paid traffic). That way when you lose accounts, campaigns or whatever, you won't stand there with nothing. You will always have some sort of reliable income which gives you the piece of mind to be able to recover and plan your comeback.

I agree 100%, over my pretty short AM career in comparison to some of you Veterans I've tried many many different sources and adapted to changes, had extreme dry months and with that I've had lucrative times as well. I just take it down to trusting the whole process of AM now, as long as I am submitting campaigns and never stagnant I know something will eventually take off and with proper risk management when testing campaigns and knowing when to give up the bad never outweighs the good.

At times this game is so frustrating, but remember you've done it before. You CAN do it again, and you will as long as you're doing the work and putting campaigns out there.

Ask your AM for the highest Revenue generating offers, thats the best indicator because people wouldn't be sending $10k+ a day in leads if its not working. Get the offers, break down the market, get your traffic source, have a spy, don't copy paste, pioneer or modify whats already working always be looking for that extra edge and you will always be running into profitable campaigns

Very happy for you though man, the sorting machine does get a little too much for some but you're a warrior Keep it up champ!

congrats man!

Good work getting back on track! Looks like a prosperous few weeks for you!

I would get that badboy diversified so you don't have 24K hinging on a single offer. Get your data and Plan B's moved in to place while you're making money and less sensitive to loss.

Great post man, I'm down after finally reaching $500/day on FB and getting my account suspended. Not sure if I will get it back but it's motivating to see you had success. I remember early 2012 I got destroyed by the google changes to SEO and lost all my income and finally got out of it with a bang thanks to facebook PPC. Hopefully I can get my account back but if not I already feel more confident I can get something working again like you
