Just received a message from Luke that he is offering in the next 24hours free Prosper202 installation on Hostgator accounts. I dont have any tracking installed yet but do have Hostgator.
I haven't invested into a hosting company like BeyondHosting which I plan to do later and get cpvlab.
However I have heard a lot of negativity regarding Hostgator for tracking, but surely its fine for temporary use?
You're not using any tracking at all? If you're not using anything then you should definitely get something set up. Lots of guys will rip on shared hosting and tell you to get a VPS etc. But, if you're just starting out and not doing big volume it can be hard to justify spending the money on a VPS that you don't really need. I started out with 202 on HostGator and it worked fine for the traffic I was doing. If you start doing any real volume it's not gonna cut it but I think it's better than not having any tracking at all.
Eventually I ended up dumping HG and upgraded to BH. You can get their starter VPS for 50% off for the first 6 months. That was the next logical step for me and I have been happy with it. I will probably upgrade to one of their better VPS packages this year.

Cheers! What kind of volume can I run with the starter VPS? and is HG ok if I am sending like 200$ worth of FB clicks?
I really would not recommend using HostGator's shared hosting or any shared hosting for tracking as a matter of fact.
Here's a link to a thread I previously made when I was having tracking issues.
At first I purchased a year of shared hosting account with GoDaddy, and had issues with the installation. After talking to their customer support for some time. Turns out that Prosper requires certain permissions for it to run properly, which they were unable to provide. Lucky for me though, they gave me a full refund because my account was relatively new and their services wasn't up for what I needed it to do.
So I migrated over to Host Gator and....
I ended up stuck with a years worth of Host Gator's shared hosting, which I haven't found any use for yet anyways. Hmm.. Maybe I'll start a blog! :P
The time I wasted trying figure out the issue, thinking there was sometime I must have missed, re-watching all the videos, re-installing multiple times over and over again, and of course a massive headache. Over trying to save a couple of bucks.
In the end, it cost me time and more money! Where I could of been testing and running campaigns.
Oh well, lesson learned, do not skimp on hosting!
Just my experience. Hope this helps as I wish someone had told me the same when I first started.
P.S. With the STACKTHATMONEY Coupon Code, You get 6 month's at 50% off, by the time that runs out you'll probably need an upgrade anyway, cause you'll be pushing way to much volume!
Starter VPS: Tyler quotes the BeyondHosting starter VPS as handling up to 30,000 clicks a day.
I'd also strongly recommend against using shared hosting. For affiliate marketing, it will just waste your money.

Hope that helps!
hi philwilrgm, I see you are in NL. I use transip.nl and their BladeVPS M pakket. It cost (with DirectAdmn) something like E 15/month. I'd like to split test it once with BeyondHosting to see which is better, but for my volumes (4-5k clicks/day) it's ok, I think. I use CPVlab for tracking.
Where are those servers based though? If you're running NL traffic then sure, but if you're running US traffic mainly and your server is in NL, then you will probably be better off with a BH server.
