Have gone back to FB after time spent doing other things (a lot of POF which I find substantially easier).
And I'm REALLY struggling. Trying to get Be2 to work in the UK direct linking targeting women over 35. Plenty of people successfully doing it based on SocialAdNinja. However, I JUST can't get the CTR above 0.08%. How some of you guys are getting CTRs of 0.2% and above is just beyond me. Here are some of the angles that I have tried:
- Targeting different age group in intervals of 5 years
- Duplicating ads that have been running for days on SocialAdNinja (including improving the images by increasing the saturation)
- Targeting people in specific cities and including both a local landmark and a photo of a guy in the image and calling out the city name in the ad text
- Targeting people that like Jane Austin novels and films with a photo of a Colin Firth lookalike with an ad title of "Find Your Mr Darcy"
- Targeting people that like other dating sites (Zoosk and others)
I attach some of the ads that I have been using to illustrate.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or advice on angles would be greatly appreciated. My EPC is also pretty low (about 30 cents) so to get anywhere near profitable seems like an unscalable mountain at the moment.
Have also tried male dating offers with both new images and those that I have swiped off SocialAdNinja and exactly the same low CTR. Even targeting less competitive markets like Brazil.
In addition, any Facebook pros offering private coaching (I'll pay!) please get in touch.
Cheers,
Andy
If I were you, I'd start with a niche offer instead of Be2. I remember I jumped on Be2 first, and didn't get it working, so moved on to niche offers and got those working rather quickly.
I haven't returned to Be2 yet, nor have I needed to.
I know 35+ females is where the quality is at, but right now, you need to get something working (if anything, for a mental lift). Focus on getting the guys converting (0.2%+ CTR's are a lot easier here I found). Then fill in after with the females conversions to get the quality. If you can get a strong ROI on the guys, then even just getting women to break even / slight loss is a long term strategy I've used in the past.

I would not go as broad as you..
Going broad might work, but remember that the guys that are running the ads you ripped are mostly not running on standaard network payouts and have been testing a lot of $$ to get it profitabel
Easiest way to see some profit with facebook dating is:
-Pick a angle (Single parents / Tattoo lovers / Dog owners etc etc)
-Build your ads based on that angle..
-Build a lander based on your angle..
-Test, Test, Test

This. ^^
Be2 has been running a long time. Chances are the guys running it hardcore on FB are running at much higher payouts, or worse still, running it direct with even higher payouts. This makes it hard for the small guys to get traction...
Remember to keep pushing for higher payouts on your offers all the time. That's what gives you your competitive advantage.

The highest CTRs are usually the result of a strong headline/ad and a golden image. There are a few images that just outperform everything else in sight. That sucks for a marketer to hear, and it means that you have to rinse through dozens and dozens of pics until you find the top 2-3% of them that work on your demo.
I think your ads are well crafted. Nothing wrong with the copy. But the imagery doesn't grab me by the eyeballs.
I have been pushing Be2 for a long time but the offer has definitely shown signs of burnout in the last few months. You have to be going direct on a good payout to have a chance at profitability.
The problem is the database.
Many Facebook and POF users have been exposed to Be2 ads for not just months, but years now. It means that a lot of the people you advertise to are going to be dead fish, the unconvertables. It also means that those of us who still run it have a stack of data for an advantage.
I would suggest you...
1. Load up on new images, over and over again. The type of image you should be looking for, if I had to describe, would be 'ripped but responsible'. Tattoos/flesh a plus!
2. Use your conversion reporting to sniff out any demos within your demo where the CTR is above 0.8% vs. below 0.8%.
3. Try repackaging a couple of your headlines as questions. I've found that whacking a question mark at the end of a headline (even if it's not a question) can sometimes affect CTR.
4. Experiment with super short form copy (as minimal as you can manage).
5. Instead of "free", try "£0.00".
6. If you have no luck with Be2, move on to the next offer. As Richard said, some people have more luck with niche offers. Test SOI vs. DOI.

Andy,
You've got some golden feedback by Finch here. On top of this, I can only suggest you start a Follow Along, for further critiquing. Try and get some the Facebook pros in here to chime in. Good luck!

Wow! Blown away by the quality of the advice here. A follow on sounds like a brilliant idea. I will get to work.
Now I need to choose an offer to focus on. Biggest issue as always is the images as I note that most if the niche dating offers from the bigger Companies require network approval of ads, even for social. How "pragmatic" are the AMs when it comes to this? I can't see any way around using swiped images to get a good CTR but of course if they ask, I don't have permission to use the images :-(
Cheers,
Andy

I don't think AMs/advertisers are that concerned about you having rights to the image (except for hmmm maybe guys in military gear...), since pretty much no one ever does for dating, but rather whether your ads are misleading and/or infringe on competitors (e.g. mentioning X site is better than Y).

In my experience you don't need to show your creatives to the network. I never do. What network are you working with?

I have had to have my landers approved by the advertiser for certain offers, Be2 does this on certain networks. I've also had to have my lander approved for certain credit report offers.

Adsimilis and Neverblue are the 2 I'm referring to. If you check out the terms of some of the offers they state that all social creatives need to be submitted for approval before running the offer.

Andy

Hey Andy1750, RichardJ nailed it on offer selection. Be2 can turn an otherwise profitable campaign red. Testing the same campaign on another offer is worth a try and will get you set to split offers anyway. Checkout Wannabe's follow along "Gonna Make Facebook My Bitch". He took fb from $0 to $500 in under a month and Through the $2,xxx+ daily profit in nder 90 days. The point is his offer did not get legs until he cut swapped out Be2 for another offer.

I am also promoting Be2 offers, It 's really hard to be profitable but the advertiser is very happy with the quality of the leads as I am only targeting female demo aged 45+
