FB CPCs are crazy high (33)

FB CPCs are crazy high

Are the high CPCs due to the holiday advertising? Below is a screenshot of an AU dating campaign. I would normally expect a lower CPC with these CTRs. Will we see these come back down to normal in January? Any suggestions to get my CPC down lower?

Definitely cause of the holidays, luckily they are almost over! I remember last year when it switched from December to January that the first day of January I got so much volume I couldn't even believe my eyes! Certainly one of the best days of the year it was for me.

Indeed, you're better off just waiting until the holidays end.

amazing CTRs Dude! And yea wait till after the holidays OR you can try running CPM and see if your CTRs/CVRs stay similar!

out of curiosity, how big is the audience your targeting?

Holidays & you barely have any reach right now. Those should end up really nice soon

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback. This is my first holiday season in AM so I was kind of surprised at how much costs went up. I'm kinda laying low and not running much right now. I think I'd rather save my money and hit it hard come January.

Same here, can't get CPC bellow $0.30 in AU now.

12-22-2012 09:02 PM #9 xerocool (Member)

OP, what offer are you promoting in AU?

12-22-2012 09:34 PM #10 rockit (Member)

I be more than happy if I can get 0.35 CPC in AU. Last week I payed $1.6 per click in USA with a broad demo...

Right now is not the best time to target US + dating.

How did u bid such a low bid in AU traffic? Dating nonetheless? My suggested bid is between $1.30-$4.04. If I bed below that I don't get any traffic at all?

Cheap clicks in AUS are very possible.

obviously dependent on your demo

yes Aaron, it's all to do big box stores and name brands eating up holiday inventory. It should drop down very shortly . Jan 1 the flood gates open :P

12-23-2012 08:39 AM #17 zeno (Administrator)

Yeah totally depends on the demo and also ad type, there are still cheap clicks to be had. E.g. some fanpage ad clicks I've had over the past month. Demo F 18-25, ~5 million audience. Been getting solid $0.01 clicks for 2 weeks, I have just left it on $1 budget until I figure out how to monetise the fans. Posting stuff every few days to make people happy.

12-23-2012 03:01 PM #18 joejoechen (Member)

Yeah Fan pages get WAYYYY cheaper clicks, given the same CTR as an ad going to external URL. I have ads sitting at 0.5-0.8% CTR with 10-15 cents cpc early dec, I can agree with the crazy high issue, they're like 35-50 cents now, even with 0.7% CTR.. pretty ridiculous. At this point you just gotta make sure you have a solid setup with an even higher EPC funnel to even it out with a lower ROI. Pause those camps if need be, take a break and roll out again in Jan.

Got some nice CTR for FR today:

AU cpc still high.

12-23-2012 06:39 PM #20 ppcskills (Member)

I would leave the campaign a little longer, especially the ad with the .5 CTR. If the cpc doesn't go down, try decreasing the bid to the average cpc and repeat this until you stop getting traffic or are profitable. Every holiday season the bids tend to go up but fb has enough inventory.

fan page method gets accnts burned a lot more

Are serious AU prices of $0.06 seems high :P.. I be lucky enough to get even $0.3 in AU anytime. Right now my clicks are well over $0.60 and I have paused everything till jan roll in

12-24-2012 08:43 AM #23 zeno (Administrator)

Well, $0.06 is a huge CPC when you're hitting >1% CTR, that's for sure.

Screenshot is from FR campaign, not AU
AU bids are @ $0.25-$0.35 now.

Test more images and delete anything bellow 0.2 ctr, they are just not worthy optimizing.
Full body pics works much better for me.
You can also use some image editing for covering/blending cleavage on disapproved pics.

Heya, I'm doing some laser targeting type stuff ~ demo is a little over 3,000,000. (all stuff I learned on this wonderful forum!)

I will post a follow up stats sometime mid this afternoon of how the CTR held up while I raised the budget. I'm quite shocked it rocketed up so high today! Must mean there are a lot more people on and browsing Facebook today.

I still don't understand how people are able to maintain high CTRs with very broad demos? When I try to go wide, my CTRs go to shit. But maybe you are in a more broad appeal offer. Maybe daily deals or something?
Start playing around with your interests and you'll see a notice in your CTR's. Not everyone interest will work as you expect.

What do you mean? I don't have problems getting high CTRs but I was talking about increase audience size and keeping CTRs high. If you add interests you are more targeted but your audience becomes much smaller.

Look at this craziness? I have a campaign with two ads as I was told there would be a dramatic difference in CTR. Which you can see is true. But how is it that the high CTR ad is getting the higher CPC? Has the world gone mad! I'm kidding a little bit as it's only 4 clicks but still funny.
