Hi everyone,

So i've been playing around with ppc and ppv this last couple months, and i'm still pursuing that road, and waiting for some projects to be ready to go live, and in the meantime i always wanted to tackle Facebook so now that I have some time, i'm gonna do that, and probably all the mistakes that come with

I'm starting small, no cloaking for now, just to get familiar with the platform and such.

I will try to keep this follow along updated unlike the one i created months ago but i was just starting then and pof didn't do the trick finally, i'm much more motivated right now, and as you may have read on my success post i achieved the $500/day mark and i'm hoping Facebook will help me get to that $1K day i hope to reach !

Okey so I used a spy tool to grab some pictures and added 25 of them with the same ad text, i'll see if I can find 2 or 3 winners in there before i start split testing the ad text.

I've read in here that there is better offer to promote than Be2, i'm waiting for my AM on AdSim to get back to me about that, and of course if you have any input about this it's more than welcome.

Also, what is a good lp ctr% i should be aiming for with fb traffic ? I've read somewhere on stm that 20-30% is good ?

Will be great to see how this truns out!

Btw how did you get a reach of 720k? If I do that age group its half that. And also fb doesn't allow you to target interested in male/female for France, so that could lower the ctr badly.

I just recently started targeting France, and narrowed it down by putting in precise interests what males like.

I had no problem choosing man interested in women.

And i'm actually targeting 10miles around Paris only, not all of france otherwise it would be more

I'm just testing the pics for now to keep the best ones before i unleash more traffic.

It still goes fast, I increased daily limit to 200€.

Hmm thats odd, because apparantly its only possible to target interested in all for france, due to some policy. Thought you could not bypass this.

This is the message many get from FB:

Invalid "Interested in"

Targeting declined due to policy


And if I target like you did for Paris, it still the same message. And I keep it on interested "all", age 35-45, males, single, paris 10miles I get total reach of 113k. How you getting 720k :O im confused!

(update: nvm after a few min that 113k turned into 760k, but thats for "all", and that sounds more like what you got. Are you sure you have it on interested in "women"?)

Hmm maybe it does make a difference... because checked the forum and others are getting that policy message. Damn good for you then! :P

I havn't done much testing but it does seem to do a bit better.

I pushed 30pics and most of them where bad obviously but it still eat a lot of my budget so overall happy with this first day, I now have 5pics >.15% ctr and 2>.2% and cpc is decreasing

I think LP's ctr% can still be improved since I saw wannabe talking about 80% on his follow along which seems insane but gives me something to aim for, any opinion about this is welcome.

Ah not bad, it has to be done. CTR of .15 and .2 are ideal! I cancel ones below .1%.

But yeah I can't get my LP higher than about 35% either. And from what i hear thats good for FB traffic? So no idea how Wannabe gets it that high, however he does target only females so maybe they click more?

I feel I can do better on the LP i'm gonna try to throw in 1 or 2 more .. also i'm not convinced yet with offer cr% = 8, i'd love a small 10%

Today should be profit though so that's a good news already, i'm getting $.08 clics which is awesome too.

Also I just remembered I have an old clean $2K account for one of my companies, I'll be starting new campaigns very soon cause this one is eating up all my personal account limit ($250) !

eDarling has a 30 min questionnaire before the pixel fires. I tried in czech and i was not able to breakeven. Also my demo was women and my ctr was bad.

If the starts are for edarling and you getting positive ...........then i think as bids goes down this will remain positive in days to come

If its Be2 and you running thru adsimilis then you would be lucky if AM doesnt pings you. the optimize people off on Monday and thursday.

It's be2 and yes i've read everywhere on STM they optimize people off so i guess i'm just waiting for the hammer right now ..

I need to give edarling a try, gonna work on an adapted version of the LP for that one.

With the 30 pics, did you create 4 duplicate ads into 30 campaigns or did you put the 30 pics in one campaign and pick out the winners?

I created 1 campaign and put the 30pics there, than kept pausing/waiting to get data/analyze/delete until i narrowed it down to 5pics

On France too ?

I get that with >.25% ctr and bidding $.30 and fb keeps adjusting until $0.12 yesterday (sorry i copy/pasted first post so it's not 0.19 but 0.12 for yesterday, today $0.14 for now).

Okey i'll setup a split 50/50 between DL and LP, I did the LP just because I saw be2.fr was red on mywot ..

I think it also make a big difference because he gets to select "interested in women" instead of getting the policy message only allowing both.

I actually posted an edit on page1 to correct this, I was mistaken thinking i had this option on, i do have the same policy message as you do so that's not it.

It has to do with ads ctr% that's pretty much it.

Update 21/11/2012 :

Clics to offer: 939 (I switched to DL in the middle of the day so it messed things up a bit)
Avg CPC : $0.15


Conversions : 44
Spent : 200€ ( $255 )
Revenue : $210.93

Profit : $-44
ROI : -17%

I created 2 campaigns yesterday, direct linked too, one is doing great (UK 1.5M reach) and the other was too small of a demo ( CA - 200K reach ) so i stopped it today.

So my CPCs are great but my RPC on the offers keeps dropping everyday, keeping me at the break-even or losing money.. waiting for the offers to be approved on other networks to split test.

The UK campaign is doing great so far, I gave it most of my spend limit to give it a chance, hopefully it won't disappoint.


EDIT : Oh and my limit was increased, from 200€ to 250 .... :/

Good job man! Was this for UK, how did you get cpc so low? Mine was at like .3 so no profit with be2.
And what about fr? You ditched it?

Yep mate it's UK and yes I ditched the FR for now, RPC keeps decreasing proportionally with my cpc so always b-e..

For the CPC here's an idea, one of my best ads today :

Mehdi do you still have the same account up and running with the non interested in selected? And still making that 2k per day on FB dating? Just wondering as I finally have my new FB acc but noticed a huge drop in ctr for example DE compared to december, had cpc at 0.05 but not anywhere near now. Now I am trying to reconfigure what countries are best to focus on to make 250-500$/day with male dating. Do you have any recommendations? Perhaps avoid US and do UK instead?

Hey phil,

Germany has gone crazy on cpc for me and ctr% have dropped + i got retroed on it because of the interested in option, i moved away from it for now, focusing on other european countries and some US still.

What kind of cpcs are you getting for US?

Late December and early January i had no problem getting .09-.16 clicks. Now I cant get anything under .20. Same ads same CTRs. The 19th I had ads with .16 cpc which was fine with me but that went away the next day (.20-.30). Today I couldn't even get FB to serve my brand new ads impressions until i bid .51 and they started giving me .40+ clicks without dropping cpcs at all. Crap.

In the US today i'm getting $.15 clics !

I started 2 new campaigns yesterday in small countries ( 500K demo ) and they proposed .40€-1.20 a few hours after... I bid .07€ (which was in the suggested range when i first created the camp) and waited, now it's lowering progressively and they started sending me clics .. But i can't blame them for trying

Offers come and go it's not even worth mentioning anymore, get in touch with your AMs they will tell you what's working, on what traffic source, what countries, etc ..

@teamcrunk it's pretty easy to guess if you followed the thread of the said spytool

@evabai thanx mate! For now i'm still hovering around 2-3k$/day with my personal acct, having some troubles getting the high spend accts to work but i'll also bump my pers acct soon so should scale up from there.

Woah don't tell me mehdi you still got away with it up till now to target the same way you did from the beginning of this thread :P The same acc you started with is still alive? Impressive
Is EU your main source or US? I am still at the 200$ a day stage, hope this account lasts as only had it 2 weeks :O

I'll jump in here.

First, be2 offers are hard to convert, flat out. The offers aren't new, they aren't adult, and restrictions are all over the place. That being said, it continues to be a large client for us. Advertisers, especially be2, look at every inch of traffic that is sent. If you change your settings even a little bit between your networks when you split test, that can cause you to get optimized off, period.

Many more insights into this if anyone needs other info, but jumping the gun on campaigns when you get optimized off, or making assumptions about advertisers or networks is the wrong first step.
