Double Opt-in Struggles on PPV - Suggestions?

With the holiday's coming, I'm trying to expand my Penny Auction success from last year by moving my campaigns into the PPV realm.

I've got my targets worked out and a nice email chain set up. Right now its costing about 0.60/email - which seems pretty good. I've always just used LI to funnel people to offers, never built a list.

The issue I'm having is that only ~10% of the people who sign up initially follow through and confirm their email address. I've taken a sample of the unconfirmed emails and pasted them into facebook and most of them are real people.

Is that normal, or do I need to make some modifications?

Forget about double opt-in with ppv mate, it will never work and single opt-in is more than enough, and possible with most auto-responders.

I concur. I moved away from double opt-in very quickly. Hear more and more are doing the same. As long as you make sure the hard bounces are fairly low (So if you can, clean up the data before submitting it) it should be no problem. Just keep in contact with your ESP to ensure you don't run into trouble. I also have unsubscribe links in the top of the email and the bottom so that if people want to leave its easy for them to do so.

I changed my approach a bit to make the single opt-in make sense. Also added the unsub to the top to try and make it easier for people to get off the list.

Today it made a slight profit, I'll keep tweaking it. Thanks guys!
