My POF starting plan, tear holes in it.

Howdy,

Glad I found this forum, it is very refreshing to be part of an IM forum that is not full of trolls

You may have read my introduction thread here but in this thread I basically want to just put everything thats in my head down in words before I start hopefully some of you can help rip holes in it.

Brief Overview
===========
Dating submit
Direct linking on POF
Tracking everything
Creative ads

I don't think I can get more brief than that, on to the detailed overview.

The Offer
=======
I was already a member of abovealloffers so I asked my friendly AM Josh that I wanted to get some paid traffic going and if he could select a few offers for me to have a look at. He gave me a few and I picked the one that I thought was most likely to actually have people sign up. It is a dating submit for Ireland (I'm Irish so it makes sense to start in a market I already know). It has a payout of $2.25 so according to a post I read on here should be cheap to test out (I'm not sure if I have my spending right which I'll outline below).

Budget
=====

I have a initial budget of $700 to start out with. Of that I have allocated $540 for ad spend, $80 (month) for a dedicated server, $10 research. I will reuse a domain I already have registered for my tracking domain. That will leave me with $70 to test out new images.

Ads
===

I am not sure if I have done my math correctly (couldn't find the thread here) but I think it was you must spend ten times the payout on the offer to test if an ad is profitable. Now the way I am interpreting that is that ten times the payout ($22.50) is the spend to test one ad per demographic. I also have read that if an image gets no clicks in 1k impressions to pull it so I have to factor this in.

Initially it will cost me $540 to test 2 age groups, 3 ad texts and 4 images. That leaves me with 24 unique units to track. I will have additional images on standby to replace non performing images. I assume this means the ten times budget begins again.

Artistic ability is not my strongest point so I plan to have a wide array of images and title text. I will probably ask someone I know (or you guys) for feedback on what I choose. I do want each ad text to be largely different to one another as I have no idea what is likely to work.

Tracking
======

Now I know this could be a major time sink in me getting started but I am home rolling my tracking system. I already have a basic version of this running and my day job involves hosting so setting it up wont be a problem that slows some newbies down (for coders its written in flask and redis). The $10 research in the budget is for testing out the tracking script with real traffic.

Well that is about it, please let me know if I am way off on something as I may well be. I will probably start a follow along once I get this running.
