Is it possible to get high CTRs (.15+) on a broad mature female demographic? (18)

Is it possible to get high CTRs (.15+) on a broad mature female demographic?

I've been trying and trying, this is for the U.S. market by the way which probably doesn't help. Spent $400 so far with no good CTR to show for it so far, anyone got any tips? Should I even be worrying about a good CTR with this demographic and instead focus on my CPC and my EPC?

Edit: I bid around .7 - .9 to start off my campaigns, am I not bidding high enough? Or should I just give up on this demographic and just focus on males which would be easier to get a higher CTR?

I'm betting your bid is high enough, as for that CTR - yes 100% possible.

Just keep searching bro! You'll find those winners soon enough, try different border colours, increase saturation, sharpen facial features/boobs (Pick 1 or the other, often picking both to sharpen takes attention away)

The best CTR images are the ones I think will do really crap! ---------> thechive.com

I always thought it was impossible. But with a good copy it's as easy...well maybe easier than men.
The way I do it...Swiss Army knife in combination with Life Force 8/Yahoo Answers

For getting a good CTR you need:
- a good image. This means one that grabs user attention and is compatible with the rest of your ad
- call your target from the ad body/headline
- call to action

The image counts the most(about 70%) and the next is the headline. The body of the ad has more influence on conversion.

@patje72 - How are you using Yahoo Answers there? Seems like an interesting trick.

I assume you have read about the Swiss Army Knife first...if not, do it now.

Then look for problems and issues your target has.

Example:

Someting your target loves & Something your target hates
____________________________________

Your Offer

So let's say you are targetting 250 pounds women with the soutbeach diet.

Something they love: Their Husband (yahoo answers)
Someting they hate: Skinny and hot girls Women (yahoo answers)
Your offer: Southbeach

Ad:

Does Your husband checks out skinny girls while he's with you?
Don't worry. The southbeach will let you lose 10% of you weight EVERY week!

Swiss Army Knife? Tried a search and didn't come up with anything. What is it?

And what does Yahoo Answers have to do with writing copy?

I'm trying to run general dating offers though, can the swiss army knife method be applied to the same extent here?

What do women want >> An Honest Man
What is their problem >> Good Men live 3 states away

All Good men are 3 states away?
No way...our local dating dating office has over 12000 thrustworthy, blah blah....

How are you using Yahoo Answers for your ideas? Are you randomly browsing questions or is there a method?

11-08-2012 08:19 PM #12 patje72 (Member)

I take the target...let's say....Single Men with kids

Then I just google stuff like: 'dating father' or 'dating single dad'

99% of the time yahoo answers had several results on the first page.
Then I try to find problems single dads have.

For instance...I just found:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...=1006041322255

On the page I see 'Children will scare women away'

Headline for your ad could be:

Being a father Scares Women Away?

No matter what, that in the end of the day is all that matters.

With broader demographics i've never done well with high bids, low bids and lots of campaigns, broken through the log in counts.

Of course you can still run broad, but your CTR will stay much higher if you break up your log in counts, and use a freq cap of 3-4 asap.

Keep trying new images and headlines, body text won't effect it too much

Mynzie,

What exactly do you mean with:

With broader demographics i've never done well with high bids, low bids and lots of campaigns, broken through the log in counts.

Do you mean you never did well with high bids, low bids, lots of campaigns

or

Do you mean you never did well with high bids, but I did better with low bids lots of campaigns?

He means that high bids on a broad demographic on Plenty of Fish never treated him kindly, instead he used low bids and multiple campaigns to get the needed traffic at low click costs to make a profit.

Update: Spent about a grand testing stuff on a broad U.S. female mature (age 35+) market, some Canada in there as well, and have come to the conclusion that it is just about impossible to get a great CTR that lasts longer than a day. It might be too large of a demo to get good CTR's just by targeting that broadly. I've sought out advice from people that have more experience than I and they have said the same thing.

This ain't PoF, that's fo sho. Looks like I'm gonna have to test new markets/angles if I want to get a profitable campaign up, at least in the U.S. demo.
