6 Newbie Questions

I've been running my adds on POF for the past couple months with little success and I know thats due to the fact that my adds probably suck. So I guess that leads me to a number of questions:

1. How do I improve my ads so they don't suck? I have a pretty small budget, about 10-20 dollars a day. So I've been running about 2 offers, around 6-8 ads each, split testing 3-4 images and headlines. I've been reading through the forum and some blogs, which seem to be useful, is there anything else I should be doing?

2. When running the same offer with different countries or age groups, is it better to test the same images or different ones?

3. I read in the start-up guide to try one traffic source for 30 days. It's been about 60 days on POF now so should I start looking into other traffic sources or should I stay on POF?

4. I heard that LP's convert much better than DL on POF. The thing is, I don't know how to make one. Is it really that importaint to use LP's for successful POF campaigns? If so, where can I go to learn them?

5. Up to this point, I've only been tracking my ads through my affiliate network. I've been trying to learn how to use prosper 202 to track my campaigns by watching youtube tutorials but I still can't seem to get the hang of it. Any suggestions?

6. Do I need to set up a tracking system like prosper or CPVlab before I can use landing pages?

Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated, as I feel like I'm shooting in the dark right now. Thanks guys!

I recommend reading through Cashvertising if you need help improving your ads. Let us know if you have specific questions about setting up your tracking and we can help you out. If you get your tracking set up, you can compare your LPs with direct linking to see if you built a good LP, this won't be possible without tracking.

1. You're testing too many ads for how small your budget is. Best way to start is to take what others who are successful are doing and make it slightly better. Over time you will develop your "go to" ad formats you know work.

2. Depends. Some images work across all countries and ages and others don't.

3. Stay on POF until you can make something profitable.

4. You can learn how to make LPs on this forum or using Google. You DON'T need LPs so I would try and get something to work with DL first even if its small margin. Once you're spending $100 - $200 a day you can introduce LPs otherwise you're just throwing another thing to split test into the mix, and with your budget you won't get enough data.

5. Stick with your affiliate network for now. Again your goal should be to get 1 campaign thats profitable.

6. You don't need CPV or Prosper to use landers... but since you don't know how to build them you probably won't know how to set that up either as it involved PHP.

You're on the right track but I think you're thinking about stuff you don't need to focus on just yet. There's guys in here who might disagree but I'm a big believer in the 80/20 rule and right now you just need to find a combination of offer + creative + targeting without getting things you know little about (tracking, landing pages, etc) involved.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help! Much appreciated. POF it is until I make something profitable! I guess I'll put off learning LP's and prosper 202 until later.
One more question, how do you know what ads are successful?

The ones that make you money. If you're buying the ones that generated the highest eCPC. If you're bidding CPM the one's generating the highest eCPM.
