Low CTR on Facebook Ads

I can't seem to get a CTR above 0.05 on Facebook. Do any of you have any tips on getting CTR up to the 0.1~0.2 mark?

use keyword targeting, the downside is your volume will suffer, but test them all separately.

CTR's have been extremely wacky the last few days. I've had a few ads magically triple their CTRs after a few days of running.

CTR in facebook boils down to 4 Variables:
1) Your demo
2) Your targeting (Keywords)
2) Image
3) Copy

For me personally, keyword and demo targeting is mostly used with bigger mainstream countries (US, UK, CA etc) because i tend to get a sizable demo to test before i run out.

Since keyword targeting is the easiest variable you can set constant (you are supposed to already know what your audience's interest is), I would start out with some super tight targeting first.

Just create for example 4 campaigns at $15 budget, all with the same keyword targeting, and if your offer is unisex, 2 campaigns will be male 21 - 60, another 2 will be female 21 - 60, then throw in say 3 ads into each campaign. Pause ads that are not performing after say 3000 impressions.

if you see a better CTR on female 21 - 60, create 2 more female campaigns with different ads.

When you get some good ads, create new camps with looser targeting, broader demo, 1 step at a time. etc etc.

It's just my method, other pros will have better insights.

Split test by age groups.
20-25
25-30
...
Keep age groups with good CTR's and add different images for other groups.

Yea, you are not the only ones. Maybe Facebook is changing stuff or trying new things.

Yeah facebook seems to be doing lot of tweaking recently.

I have one slot ad that is running for the last 1.5 months on 34+ Females in the US (about 84 million). I am using ocpm bidding and in the last month I have had ctr's ranging from .025% -.080% and cpms ranging from $.30-80. The last 2 days the cpms have dropped to $.10.

i had the exact same campaign, same Pic, same ad text, all 100% identical. In the 1 account 0.1% CTR, in the other one 0.03%, no matter what i do. Who can explain that?

You had history in the first account? I think they showed your ad from the second account on lower CTR places...and if your second account is newer/less history this is the perfect example that accounts spent/age influence CTR.

Kevin, If you are using agency account then try to test those ads in normal account. I had same situation and now it's working fine.

Can you post a link to your ad??? i think getting feedback on that is probably the most important point. you can get everything right..demo..bid price etc ..but if the ad is not inviting to the masses then there is where the problem lies...correct?
