Hey guys,
I've been sniffing for dirt on Banners Broker for a while now, and I finally got round to writing a post about it:
http://finchsells.com/2012/10/21/ban...it-affect-you/
If you haven't heard of Banners Broker, it's a hugely popular ponzi scheme that has attracted over 160,000 investors - all of whom believe they are investing in an online advertising business.
I don't normally go nosing around scams, but this is a particularly bloodsucking one.
Several of my family members have gotten involved. As well as a couple of friends. They're likely to lose every penny.
If you know anybody considering Banners Broker as an investment, or anybody who is already in the program, be a good samaritan and slap them in the titties. They will thank you for it someday.
It disgusts me what these criminals are able to get away with.
Awesome bit of investigative journalism there!
Have you thought of pitching a story on this to one of the major newspapers? My guess is they'd be interested.
I seem to recall you were looking into writing non-fiction a while back. A byline from the Guardian or the FT - even a major online site like Salon - goes a long way to establishing legitimacy in that industry.
Anyway - great post, and great bit of journalism!
Our own investigative reporter on lock!! Seriously, this is better reporting than 90% of what's on the news nowadays. Great job!
Banners Broker HQ looks like a perfect meth lab location for Breaking Bad.
Only problem with scams like Broken Banners is they feed so much bullshit info to the investors about their legitimacy (Zeek Rewards, JustBeenPaid) that the poor suckers fall for it hook, line and sinker. This impacts their ability to think logically about their investment and they are unable to comprehend anyone who is critical about their choice of 'investment' and are too defensive to listen to reason. I had a conversation with one dude about JustBeenPaid (now Profit Clicking) about how much he had earned. He told me he was currently raking in around $5k per day. I said to him "How much is in your bank account?" and he said "nothing yet, i'm re-investing the profits". Sorry mate, you haven't earned jack shit. Let's see him cash out $5k per day when they have a daily limit of $1k (with 8% payment processor fees)
Oh and I just love the dude on their site in some poor fitting oversized suit that looks like it costs $5 telling us how big time their Broken Banners program is!
ouch.... ya... that sux man.... never even heard of this banner broker thing....
Noblesse Oblige. You should send that to places with a decent readership, both online and offline. Get your family out first though if possible...
Funnily enough a friend asked me what I thought of this last week and I told him then it looked like a scam, if only from the perspective that if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. His immediate reaction was that I was wrong...
So today I sent him a link to Finch's excellent article and I think he's coming round but if he does it'll be a slow process because he just so wants it to be true.
There's no such thing as a free lunch but there will always be someone who'll believe there is. Personally I'd be happy if they just kept clicking and signing up for dating offers.
I will tell my dad to get out of this ASAP, I told him before I don't trust the site but he was not convinced. With your article I think I will manage to persuade him, cheers!
Wow. I had an old co-worker mention banners broker earlier this year, but didnt think much of it. I'll tell him to cash out asap. Thanks!
Great reporting Finch. I had a friend recently talking to me about this great opportunity and I was immediately sketched out because it sounded too good to be true but I didn't investigate any further. Going to tell him to get out asap. Is there any government agency that these guys could be reported to so that they stop scamming people? I feel like if we all reported them, might be able to draw some attention to their bs before any additional people get defrauded.
