Segmenting in traffic source versus in tracking software

I see a lot of people recommending that I create different campaigns for different age groups. If I can track via CPVLab or 202 which age group clicked/converted, why should I complicate things by creating multiple campaigns? This applies to many traffic sources but I'm thinking about POF here.

Only positive side I can think of is that you can pause campaign faster if you have multiple age groups and one particular age group doesn't convert.

If you in the other hand create one campaign with all age group included, you can test creatives way faster and with the test data you can then do separate age group campaigns with best converting creatives. You can still target

If you create same campaign with multiple different age groups, won't you then pay a lot more for getting enough data for creatives to make a decision to cut or keep?
