Just curious if anyone is seeing anything going on...
My main site is jumping around right now, dropped way far down in the serps from numerous top 10 rankings.
I figured if it hasn't moved in the last few days that I would be de optimizing the onpage a little bit to see if that would help. Took out most of the stuff that made me look like a try to hard (bold/i/u keywords, thinning out keyword denisty etc). Also added some content to a bunch of my sites while keeping my main keywords out of the mix.
Hopefully I see a little bump but I'm not really relying on them anymore. Time to make a new batch and figure out what ranks.
The sites that bumped me out of the top 10 are all garbage with ripped and spun content. I fully expect to see things to continue moving and jumping around still...
Just like with every other update there are going to be no conclusions other than EMD's got penalized. Best SEO advice you could ever hear is to GTFO of SEO.
I managed to recover from the Penguin update back in April, then last week my site got slapped again. From #2 to 4th page. Bunch of BS! Targeting weightloss for in the Netherlands.
Really starting to hate SEO now, spent too much time on it, so glad I found STM.
My domain does contain the keyword in it, however in the top 10 there is a domain with the exact keyword. It has only 1 page, no images... just a 200 word article saying its under construction, and it has been like that for a year since I saw it.
Makes no sense to me, I thought EMD is getting less value and you need to have a lot of content with social signals, that site has none of it. I just don't understand Google anymore :S That site contradicts all the Google updates.
its a never ending nightmare.
got deindexed for some reason last year.... 3 requests to google and some changes and it was back with previous rankings.... then april's update and bam.... from page 1-2 for most keywords.... now to page 142...
i just gave up.
got a VA working on seo for the site.... we'll see if that helps, but as far as me doing any more seo work, those days are done.
I also got slapped pretty hard. Dont know what will work, i took a few steps and waiting for results. Deoptimized title tages and on page, added a bunch of higher pr backlinks, and more backlinks to dilute anchor text of targeting main keywords.
But yeah, thats an experiment and im not going to wait for results, so moving to mobile and ppc for now.
EMD didn't get penalized. It lost EMD boost so those sites can still rank well - they just need a little more link juice.
That wasn't only update so some sites could drop for other reasons. There was another Panda update which slapped some of the sites.
