Day 1:
I'm new at IM and I've decided to start testing of POF. I've been told it sometimes takes up to 1000 or more images to test before a campaign becomes profitable so that's what I've decided to do. I've been split testing about 20 adds a day so I'm guessing it will take me roughly 2 months to go through a 1000 images.
Over the past few days I've put up about 60 adds split testing one dating offer between males and females. I've got about 40 clicks but no conversions yet. I also applied for another dating offer so hopefully I can get it running in the next few days as well.
I have a pretty tight budget (around 15-20$ a day, .25cents CPM), so I'm wondering if running 20-30 adds a day is too many to get a sufficient number of impressions.
I also have some questions that hopefully u guys can help me out with
- with the small budget I have, would running 2 or3 campaingns, how many adds should I run per day to get a decent ctr?
- are ipad and tablet considered mobile traffic?
- roughly how long should I test an offer before switching to a new one?
- should I test the all the same images in similar campaigns and offers?
Rethink your strategy. You will burn all your money with no real data. Testing 1000 images JUST because someone told you its the way to go, is pretty nuts in my opinion.
Take 1-2 offers, try some angles and optimize the data you get. You will learn a lot more then testing 1000 images and hoping for the holy grail. It takes a lot more then a good image to make a campaign pop.
Take a look at some of the follow alongs listed here: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...Money-s-Finest
2000 is way too much.
Day 2
Thanks guys for the advice, I'm reconsidering how I should go about testing and if I should even continue this post? Usernameismistaken, what do you mean by "try some angles"?
So far I noticed that the offer I'm promoting seems to have a better ctr targeting females. So I stopped targeting males with this offer and replaced it with a new one. So now im testing 2 different offers, 10 adds each, 1 for males and 1 for females.
I made the same mistake. It wasn't until just now I realized my money was being wasted. Thanks chrisman for posting and thanks to everyone for pointing it out.
