30 Day Challenge PPV - Watch me hopefully bank over the next 30 days :)

Hey guys,

So I have read through the STM 40 Day Guide and decided to run my own follow me thread with my failures and successes. I've chosen the PPV route, mainly because it's something I havent used before AND I have had bad experiences with Adwords in the past which, for some reason, makes me shy away from PPC.

Anyway, so this will be my 30 day PPV thread...all advice accepted and well received.

Cheers

Day 1:
Okay, so today was more about getting a few things into place to support my campaigns. The first step was obviously getting approved with some CPA companies and getting the tools together that I will need to run my offers.

So firstly, I contacted Convert2media and spoke to Steve about where i'm at and what i'm looking for etc...he was a good guy and confirmed my app for me pretty quickly and assigned me to Audi. I'll reach out to Audi tonight and have the getting to know you chat with him as i'm sure he will be a great resources over the coming months. I obviously needed a seperate network along with C2M so I signed up with peerfly from the STM guide and have also been approved with them.

The key to getting involved with CPA networks really appears to be honesty. I'm sure they get heaps of apps from people posing as "super affiliates" all the time and/or complete D'bags. So my goal when contacting them was really to develop a relationship and demonstrate where exactly I am with affiliate marketing and working out whether we would be a good fit together. I've found that once you send the application off the next step really is to contact someone either on AIM or Phone straight away and strike up good working relationship. It seems to be the easiest way to get approved and the reality is i've had no problems what so ever because I was being completely upfront with them. Anyway that's my 2 cents on that.

Considering that I now have my CPA networks in place, I obviously needed some hosting. So I contacted Beyond Hosting and got their starter VPS (using the discount code...thanks STM) and also went ahead and ordered CPVLab. I also changed the NS on an unused domain name and pointed it at my VPS...would you believe that godaddy frickin jammed up the change I had to ring them after about 6 hrs because the NS were still stuck in "pending change". It wasnt a resolution issue...but their screwup...anyway fixed and on my way.

I dropped a support ticket to Beyond Hosting and got them to install CPVLab for me. Man these guys are quick...i'm used to rubbish hosts who take days to respond but they are so lightning fast that I might end up consolidating some of my other boxes over there. I'm seriously impressed with their friendly service.

I also signed up with LI and funded my account with paypal. For some reason I needed to do it in IE because chrome would not display their captcha...go figure!

Anyway, so that is where i'm at. Tommorow (actually today but I was late posting) I will be picking my first offer to run on Lead Impact and will be starting with my results. I'll try to be as upfront as possible here so that I can learn from my mistakes Even if it means outing something...although at my stage I dont care about outing a $5 a day campaign

Till Tomorrow!

Cheers

Day 2:

Okay, so i've struggled through setting up CPVLab with the landing page script that a helpful member posted here. Actually it wasnt struggling it was simply that I didn't realise that the campaign url that CPVLab provides when you test it splits traffic between the LP's and DL as per your settings...yes i'm a noob. Anyway, so its up and working and directing to my Peerfly offer and I have to say that CPVLab is really easy to use...way easier than my previous foray into prosper.

So the offer I have selected is an email submit and is a gift card payout at 1.40 a lead and supposedly its converting at around 10%. I've added 5 related keywords with reasonable monthly local traffic and i've set the LI campaign as per the STM tutorial and its for US traffic only.

I actually used Pixlr and one of the tutorials here to rip my two landing pages. I'm not completely happy with them but its a starting point and once I work out if the offer even converts I can start optimizing them for a variety of things that I can spot straight away.

So at this stage, i'm waiting on getting it approved and we can go from there. So thats my first offer up with 5 targeted keywords and 2 Landing Pages and a direct link. I actually plan on doing this every day until I start getting used to running campaigns and optimizing them.

I'm excited and hopefully LI can approve my pages fairly quickly...any ideas how long normally?

Cheers

Okay, LI came back and disaproved my ad due to exit/entry pops. Now the kicker is that because i'm overseas I cant normally see the offer pages in their entirety. I've even tried using a proxy which still doesn't seem to work. So any ideas on what I can use to ensure the offer page doesnt have any pops on it?

I think i'm also going to try and get 3 or 4 offers approved by LI at a time so that I dont get stuck waiting 12hrs on an approval just to find out I cant run it.

Blah

jryan54: I would suggest using a service such as hidemyass.com or any one of the other multi-country VPN services out there. Quite useful for checking out offers and the competition out there.

Basically if you are using a free proxy, it's going to be pretty unreliable.

Thanks mate, I have Hide My Ass Pro VPN - BUT I think peerfly have some sort of extra check in place because even using that with a US IP still gets me redirected for being OCONUS.

Check out Witopia VPN - you can choose multiple countries and tons of locations in the US. Works well with all offers i have tried so far.

Thanks mate...that worked like a charm...must be something about HMA Pro that lets the IP through...

Thanks, I'll check that out if I ever have any problems with Hide My Ass Pro!

Day 3: So im digging through Peerfly looking for 3 offers to queue up with LI so I dont miss out over the weekend.

Unfortunately, nearly every bloody email/zip submit has a friggin exit pop which stops me adding a campaign at LI.

WTF...do they all have exit pops? Or do I just have to keep loading pages until I find one that doesnt...would be nice if the network labelled them as entry/exit pops or not.

Grrr....i'll keep grinding until I find one.

Okay, So I have 2 offers ready to go and waiting for approval on LI. Hopefully I'll have some stats for you guys later tonight.

Cheers

Are you using a landing page?

As long as you LP doesn't have an exit/entry pop then there shouldn't be a problem with getting your camp approved.

If you're rotating between LP and Direct, then disable direct while your camp is in the process of getting approved.

Hey mate,

Yeah using 2 landing pages as well as direct per offer. Of course your right....thats a good idea to run it throug LP's so that it def gets approved. Don't know why I didn't think of that! duh lol.

Anyway, my campaigns have just been approved by LI so i'll set the 1st to start running and see what my response is like and ill post the stats.

The first offer i'm running is the Kelloggs's gift card. Payout at $1.40 for email submit.

So now that i've worked out how to get LI to run with the schedule hopefully I can post some stats today for you all.

Cheers

Update: First Conversion!

Okay some stats. Note that I stuffed up on the keywords and only managed to get 2 phrase match approved and forgot to add the domain partials etc. Anyway, that's waiting to be approved at the moment.

Kelloggs $250 Girt Card - $1.40 Payout.

ID Page Views Engage% Cost CPV Clicks CTR CPC Conv CR CPA Revenue EPV PPV P/L eCPM ROI
2 kelloggs LP2 11 0.00% $0.22 $0.020 0 0.00% $0.00 1 9.09% $0.22 $1.40 $0.127 $0.107 $1.18 $107.27 536.36%

1 kelloggs LP1 11 0.00% $0.22 $0.020 0 0.00% $0.00 0 0.00% $0.00 $0.00 $0.000 ($0.020) ($0.22) ($20.00) (100.00%)

0 Direct 33 0.00% $0.66 $0.020 33 100.00% $0.02 0 0.00% $0.00 $0.00 $0.000 ($0.020) ($0.66) ($20.00) (100.00%)

55 0.00% $1.10 $0.020 33 60.00% $0.03 1 1.82% $1.10 $1.40 $0.025 $0.005 $0.30 $5.45 27.27%

So theres the stats for a VERY slow day with only a tiny bit of traffic (due to my Keyword stuff up). Its encouraging to have a conversion already but its not enough statistically to make a determination for profitability.

Anyway, what do you all think.

Day 4ish Update

Okay, so I have some stats for you guys to look at. Unfortunately, CPVLAB isnt showing the Clickthroughs so if someone can help me with that it would be appreciated.

Kelloggs Gift Card Campaign

Sephora Gift Card Campaign

Now boviously, I need to get that CTR shit worked out so I know how many are clicking through. But I would love some advice on the campaigns. Obviously they both suck but its nice to have my first conversions.

Anyway I'm guessing I need way more data or should I just delete the fuckers.
