CPC vs. CPM?

I've been so busy soaking up information regarding Mobile that I haven't even had the time to pump out a quick introduction so I guess this is my hello. Hey there. (I'll post a proper introduction eventually).

Anyways, like I said I've been dipping my toes into Mobile and I'm pretty much ready to go (just waiting on campaign approvals and restrictions to be lifted). My question is, what are the main pros and cons between CPC and CPM? Which typically works best for what? What are some of the most common bidding strategies?

Any information on the topic would be a major help. I did do a search but I couldn't manage to find anything.

Thanks.

P.S. I'm with Jumptap. I just sent out an email asking for some restrictions to be lifted. I don't know if I have an account rep or anything and it was actually pretty hard to even find a contact email address. I'm a little concerned this might not work, what's the best way to go about lifting restrictions on Jumptap?

Thanks again.

CPC Pros
You pay only for prospects. Testing creatives is very cost-effective.

CPC Cons
You might pay a fuckton more per click than with CPM.

CPM Pros
CPC can be very low compared to the volume available.

CPM Cons
Shitty ads cost a lot of money and testing requires capital.

So generally it would be smart for one to test creatives via CPC before switching to CPM in Mobile?
I haven't done this myself because I don't do FB but at least sometime ago it was popular tactic in Facebook to test creatives with CPC and after CTR was verified, switch to CPM to get lower CPC. I don't know whether it works in the mobile but at least right now I don't see any reason why not.

Our resident angry russian might be better suited to answer whether this works in the mobile.

Ah, yeah I was just in the middle of deleting that post 'cause I figured the answer was pretty obvious but thanks.

I think I'll just have to get out there and test the waters myself to learn, too many variables.

Thanks man.

No worries. There's no stupid questions, only stupid people
