Find them Keywords, Expand dat Reach!

Running Facebook campaigns and struggling to amp up your reach? Hitting a new vertical/demo and having trouble trying to find relevant interests to widen that demo? Wanting to attack a campaign from another angle, using unrelated interests that may still have you hitting the people you want to convert?

Try out this - https://www.optimalsocial.com/graph/expand/ - you will need to register a free account, then check out the keyword expander. They have a keyword explorer tool which shows interests as nodes with a web of connected interests but it gets clusterfuck real quick. The keyword expander takes multiple search terms (even negative keywords!) and gives you a list of interests those users might like as well. Sometimes these are seemingly unrelated but can be massive demos so with testing could have scaling potential.

yeah i played with this the other day!!

its a great shortcut for your facebook targeting.

Say your promoting a new facebook app for dating, get paid on Male 30+

First - find its primary popular competitor. Lets say its Zoosk

Expand the data:
http://www.optimalsocial.com/graph/e...%22zoosk%22%5D

Now lets just say that you only get paid on Male conversions
, so sort by the Male% column

and add the 3 interests with the lowest male % to the negative keyword list.

Submit and wait for the new data to populate.

Next sort by Age

And one by one ad the interest with the lowest age if its below your target age, and submit and wait

Keep an eye on the average age on the right. If after submitting your average age goes further away from your target, remove the interest and resubmit.

Now sort by Reach and you have some nice ideas for angles!!!

The original post was from 3 years ago. 3 Facebook years = 300 human years.
