**Email Marketing

Hi Guys

I have 3,000 email list gathered from one of our coupon sits and would like to monetize it with CPA offers. Possibly grow it too. I like to ask those of you who are doing mass email marketing the following?

1. Which auto responder do you utilize. I have aweber.
2. Do you email direct offers or create your own email templates and landers
3. Do you also purchase email lists from brokers?

Your responses would be appreciated. Thx.

If you are planning on promoting email submits (not very adventurous I know) you can use the email placeholder variable thing (from aweber/getresponse etc) so that you can pre-pop the email address into the email submit (must be a pre-poppable offer-peerfly has lots of these). If the recipient clicks on the link (in the mailout), their email will already be filled in so they just have to click submit. Should help increase conversion rates.

Thanks Lancer, thats a great tip. Do you or most use Aweber? I hear the getresponse does not require opt-in. Is that true?

I've used Getresponse for a while and yes, you can use SOI. I think it is possible with aweber but its a complete bitch to sort out. This could have changed now as I haven't used aweber for ages. I'm not the most experienced email marketer but I think most people use aweber because of their deliverability.

1. I have used many ESPs, and a lot of them offer autoresponders. I use Interspire software for running my own mail server and have accounts with email providers like SendGrid and also Amazon, plus others. I recommend getting Interspire software if you can afford it.

2. I never email direct offers. All emails I send have good content, plus ads on the side. But then again I am going the publisher route so someone else might answer this better than I can. I never tried emailing offers.

3. I never purchase lists. Purchased lists will get you a high bounce rate, which will get you banned by the email service. Also, they will get you a high spam complaint rate. If you buy a list, you must get it cleaned up first. See my other thread about cleaning email lists.

With 3,000 emails, I think the sample is too small to assess the success of a campaign. Email generally requires high volume.

Just my 2 cents.

Except you're giving away your email addresses to 294829 other mailers....

To give some perspective, an general rule of thumb for the traditional mailer is a drop of 1 mill records should earn 1k to be considered a successful test to get put in rotation. Open some seed accounts and see for yourself what's inboxing, tricks (html vs text, slicing images, etc), and what's making people money. Good luck!
