Wow I feel like an idiot...... (9)

Wow I feel like an idiot......

So for the past 2 weeks EVERY new campaign I launched on EVERY single traffic source in EVERY single country completely BOMBED. When I say bombed I mean zero ctr and zero conversions, but the clicks were still coming into CPV Lab so I thought it was just bad luck. The only conversions I saw was from the % of my traffic that was direct linked. After running through a few $k in traffic and lots of clicks I sat down this afternoon and wondered why I was such an F'in idiot and why I couldn't at least break even on a few of my new campaigns. I launched something like 30 campaigns and I spend about $50-100 for each initial test, so eventually my idiot meter went off and I started to question why I was in this dry spell. I started to go conspiracy theory and wonder if my servers or tracking was messed up, or if somebody was messing with me; but I had profitable campaigns running in the same CPV Lab installation so that was a no go. After going over everything with a fine tooth comb I realized that somewhere a couple weeks back I started to link my landing page images to http://mydomain.com/base2.php instead of http://www.mydomain.com/base2.php; so somehow I cut and pasted the wrong CPV Lab link from Evernote and left out the www. which caused my landing pages to get stuck when on the mydomain.com/base2.php page. FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!!!!!

On a brighter note, I started to relaunch my campaigns and many of them show promise! I supposed it's better that I learned this now, but damn I feel stupid. The irony of this whole situation is that I'm so F'in meticulous and anal about everything when it comes to landing page design and campaign setup, and yet I forgot to do something as basic as checking my tracking links before I ran them live. Doh! This is one mistake I'll never make again lol.

#1 Tip I can offer you is. TEST YOUR SHIT BEFORE GOING LIVE.

A valuable tip I learnt from being a full time web-developer.

Assuming you're trying out PPV.. Grab your tracking link with a long 'keyword' or target for instance "xyasekapwokdpoqwkdqw23048%@#$@#$.com"

Make sure it doesn't break the page - then make sure ALL your external links work and go to the offer.. and make sure the offer link actually works and doesn't go to another offer / 404 page or something..

Tends to happen a lot in this industry ESPECIALLY with networks that broker their offers.

to add onto Mr. Muscle's advice

You know how airplanes have a checklist they go through before they launch?

Create one for your own campaign.

- I go through all the links to make sure they work
- I check the landing page in https://browserlab.adobe.com/en-us/index.html . I'm specifically looking to make sure it works in internet explorer because that's like 50% of your traffic these days. I've had campaigns look fine in safari/firefox/chrome but look completely fucked up in IE.
- Make sure tracking's working
- etc.

Hey guys, thanks for the additional tips. Needless to say I will now be doing a FULL check before I send things live. I can laugh about this now but damn were the last 2 weeks stressful. Never ever again will I let this happen.....

Yeah for real, tell me about it..... The funny thing is that a few of my profitable campaigns used the same line of code and they still worked. Anyhow, the same campaigns that had 0 ctr and conversions are now performing "as expected."
