The Boron Letters (Gary Halbert)

Has anyone read/take any value out of this?

It's recommended by Neville Medhora (the guy behind Kopywriting kourse and in charge of AppSumo copywriting) as the SHIT.

This is the compilation of a bunch of letters Gary sent to his son when he was in prison where he teaches what he knows about Copy and also some general advice in life.

Here is chapter 1: http://www.thegaryhalbertletter.com/...nLetterCh1.htm

You can get all the chapters by sign-up to the website (free, but use a second email to avoid spam).

Thanks for the link. I'm now on chapter 4 and so far its a very good read. Lot of good info there. I didn't even know Gary Halbert went to prison.

This is really one of my favorite reading from the great Gary Halbert. Most of the advices can be replicated today, things like Google Ad Planner replacing the goold old SRDS...

Don't just read The Boron Letters. Read everything on www.thegaryhalbertletter.com Great Stuff. I also highly recommend My Life In Advertising/Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins.

If you're interested in copy (and I think you should be if you're in this game), The Boron Letters and the Gary Halbert Letters are must reads.

Gary was highly regarded as the greatest copywriter to ever live.

In one of his letters he mentions that there are a few people in the world better than him with copy itself, but he is pretty much the greatest in the backend marketing aspect.

IMO one of the most valuable things in his letters are his disseminations of lessons learned from making mistakes throughout his career. All of this is in direct mail, but there are parallels to ANY kind of sales and advertising for almost every concept.

IIRC people were paying $2K+/year to get the knowledge contained in his newsletters back in the day.

Here are the rest of the chapters: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cqln56zqip...%20Halbert.pdf
for your kindle, even though you can get the chapters individually on the site for free.

Looks to be a good read. Thanks!

Here's a stupidly large PDF of all of Gary's stuff from 1986 to 2000 - https://www.dropbox.com/s/xjparlanxm...ert-Letter.pdf

Hey, have updated the link for now - not sure why that happened, perhaps Dropbox now expires links after a set time. I will upload it somewhere else later today.

Yeah, Halbert's stuff is amazing. Possibly the greatest copywriter who
ever lived, but a fucking great marketing mind aside from that.

Writing is one thing, but if you don't know shit about positioning offers
and angles and creating salesfunnels, nobody gives a shit how nice your
sentences sound. Gary nailed both sides astonishingly well.

If anybody in this forum hasn't yet devoured the entire archive
at TheGaryHalbertLetter.com, please do so now. You're welcome.

One of life's weird little quirks: when I was getting started as a copywriter
Gary Halbert was some kind of mythical God-like guy who I looked up to
endlessly, but now I'm good friends with John Carlton, who was Halbert's
best friend, and I mastermind every Friday with Bond Halbert.

Talk about honored to even be involved lol.

It happened because, 2 days ago, they discovered a security vulnerability in shared dropbox links and they had to disable all the links. The new ones you make should be good as long as the file/account is there.

Ahh, cheers for the info.

Looks like both zeno's DB link and the Halbert website are down (latter has been down a while). I've been reading these via the Wayback Machine, but does anyone know an easier (e.g. more navigable or consolidated) way to get all this goodness at once?

(small bump..)

Anybody still happens to have this consolidated PDF of all his newsletters?

p.s. I don’t mean the Boron Letters - those I got from Amazon.

I don't understand if you're only interested in the PDF, but if you're just looking for the letters, you can find them here:
http://www.thegaryhalbertletter.com/...r-archives.htm

Scroll down and you will find them.

Yes, thanks
but I’m indeed specifically after the consolidated PDF because
- supposedly it has more content than the current site
- plus some logical order/structure to it
- and I’d like to print for offline reading
