I am getting a bit frustrated to bang out a bunch of campaigns every day, but i feel like i am just throwing shit against the wall and hope something sticks! Buying data is the easy part, but reading it and optimizing it, is where i am slacking BIG time.
What is the best way to analyze data?
Lets simplify it. The pattern i obviously look for is whatever is the most profitable for me.
- landing page performance
- offer conversion rate
Lets say you have the case like i have it on the example below.
Landing page 1 has 133 views, landing page 2 has only 21 views and landing page 3 has 49 views. What is the right thing to do here?
Should i cut out landing page 2 and 3 right now course their CTR sucks or do i keep running them for another 30-50 views and hope it improves?

Same goes for the offer. One of them has 89 views and converts horrible at only 5.62%, the other one has only 5 views but reached its daily cap by the network. Whats the logical thing to do here? Pause it completely until the daily cap is lifted, then continue to run it? Go to another network and run it there?
This is on PPV traffic right? If so, impressive CTR's. Nice work!!
personally I would say you don't have anywhere near enough data to make any decisions. I know a lot of people bang on about getting the CTR higher but that's only half the battle.
Look at this as an example

as you can see, LP1s has the best CTR but the conversion rate is much lower. The thing I look at as an overall is the CPA which is much better on LP2.
Thanks for the input. I agree its def not enough data but even with the couple hundred clicks a day i get almost zero conversions.
I dont really know whats going on. I checked my tracking, my host etc.. True and Mate1 is converting like total garbage. I am losing like $200/day across LI & POF now. Pretty odd, considering i was profitable before.
> H E L P
well first I'd focus on just either PPV or POF, they're two complete different traffic sources so it's worth it to just focus on one.
If the offer's converting like total garbage then you have to ask yourself why?...
- Test out other offers besides True / Mate1. Make sure you're in the best affiliates networks for dating, and grab an excel sheet of their top dating campaigns. Talk to your affiliate managers. Split test affiliate networks as well in case someone's scrubbing you.
- Maybe your ads aren't congruent with the actual offer. The visitor is expecting a certain benefit because of your ad, and they see the advertiser doesn't offer it. That's why you gotta make sure you're able to track conversion rates at the ad level. It's not just about CTR %. There's no point in like a 2% CTR ad that's deceptive if no one ever converts from it. It's a balancing game between Conversion rate & Click through rate.
- Your Demographics / Targeting. PPV is easy, just track by your PPV targets. Eliminate whatever's not working. POF I'm not as familiar with, but I know that have a lot of options as far as login count, your normal demographic targeting, etc. Track, see what works, take out what doesn't.
The art of optimization is incremental improvement. If I launch a campaign that's lose 25% ROI a day, i'm gonna slow make changes. I'll eliminate the bad ads. MY ROI is now -10%. I try out a new offer that converts better, I'm now break evening. I try a new landing page, now I'm 10% ROI. I mean it's not as simple as that bc there's so many other variables, but just focus on the biggest ones that make the most difference.
Also you need way more data. That's why I'm telling you to pick POF or LI. Instead of $200 on POF and $200 on LI, you'd make more progress spending $400 on just one. You collect more data, faster.
Good luck.
^.^ what dr NGO says!
It's always a pain to lose money but you really need to have that kind of mindset...
"it's okay... I'm buying data. ^.^"
Be confident on your campaign, and optimize your campaign on the data that you obtained.
A very common reason why so many people cannot make it yet in this game is because they cannot get over the fear of losing money. ie. I set up a campaign, ran $100 worth of traffic and made back only $60-70~. Then I pause it and start a new campaign because it's losing me money (sounds familiar to some of you eh..?).
Taking myself as an example, I set up a new campaign on 1st September, and first day itself i lost $2000 in it... Instead of pausing it, I keep the traffic coming and optimize from the data... it's now giving me +ROI everyday.
Get rid of the fear of losing money!
^^^this is a huge reason people don't succeed. You are almost never going to be profitable in the beginning and have to be willing to eat losses while you optimize. You also have to have a sound strategy for how you optimize. This will depend on the traffic source. It may involve more refined targeting, tighter frequency caps, tweaking creative, tweaking bids, asking for higher payout, etc.
Of course it is easier to tolerate losing money when you have done it before and understand the process. Like most things, the first time is the hardest.
Thanks for all the tips guys!! Highly appreciate your input
The reason i added PPV to the mix was because my POF campaigns have been profitable for most of the time and i got a bit tired of the low volume but high ROI niche campaigns. At the end of the day i didn't really see a 4-5 figure potential on POF while targeting micro niches.
I dont have a fear of losing money - its part of every business so i accept it.
Incredible tips NGO - ill get to work
