Common SiteScout Challenges

Hey guys I been trying sitescout platform for over 2 weeks now and ran into many challenges.

Challenge # 1.

No matter what placements and offers I pick traffic don't convert. For instance i was running christian offer which converted 10% DL on POF here is the situation when i ran same offer on christian related sites on SiteScout:

BTW this is above fold inventory.

And the common theme is not matter what offer I try and what placements I pick, initial ROI will be like -98%

How is this possible that 165 people clicked and didnt 1 of them signed single opt in form? All of it Bot traffic?

Challenge # 2

Yes - Bot traffic

I was happy to see 2%+ CTR and all these impressions came in 1 minute. I got suspicious so i went to the site:

http://helpfulcalendar.com/ - its 1 pager with 2 placments of ads 300 x 250 + 728 x 90 and there is nothing there.

Alexa is 3.2 mil - so this site probably gets like what? 20-30 uniques per day? So total uniques for this site if you would ran campaign should be like
1000 total?

Guess what go into sitescout you will see that it has 1.5 mil impressions inventory.... This just doesnt make sense at all.

Challenge # 3

All sites which have more traffic deny almost all verticals.

So if the vertical isnt denied most likely website's demo will not be usefull for that offer.

Denied Vertical Types:
*Automotive
*Auto Parts/Tires/Accessories
*Specific Health Concerns/Conditions
*Hospitals/MedicalServices
*Pharmacies
*Vehicle Insurance
*Investing & Financial Planning/Management
*CosmeticProcedures/BodyModification/Tatoos/Piercing
*Auto/Vehicle Dealers
*Skin/Wrinkle
*Hair Care & Skin Care (not Skin/Wrinkle)
*Cosmetic Surgery & Modifications
*Dating
*Diet-Branded/WeightManagementLifestyle
*Diet/Weightloss
*Pharmaceuticals & Medicine & Biotech
*Bizopp/Work-From-Home
*Sweepstakes
*Politics
*Sexual/Reproductive
*Religion, Faith & Spirituality
*Download/Toolbar
*Smileys/Cursors
*Smileys, Cursors, Wallpaper, Screensavers
*Ringtones

Challenge # 4

Like 80%+ sites have unknown position as placement. And mostly it means that its going to be below the fold.

So I am just wondering how do you guys pass by all these commong challenges? And can make it work?

couldn't agree more with u. i've been testing for about 2 weeks myself with dating and have found a lot of similar issues. I'm finding it really hard to get any dating/gaming campaign profitable.

Also, i think most impressions even if you are 1st on SS are still RON from other networks - could be wrong tho.

I have $70/left, i'm gunna try another vertical, something with a higher payout.

It's not "Sitescout" it's RTB exchanges in general. Just make sure you put the blame in the right place.

Unfortunately, SiteScout is remnant inventory. It's the leftovers - the stuff left over after all the prime spots are taken by direct and managed buys.

One thing you may want to do - contact your most responsive sites, and see if you can buy direct, aiming for better positioning at lower prices.

You'll need an ad server, and write up an insertion order. Others here are more experienced, but it's worth a shot where it makes sense.

It's not because its remnant. Often you're accessing remnant when you go direct on ROS. Try to go at more premium sites even if the CPMs are higher, and ya theyre picky as hell on verticals

I wanted to bump this thread to ask if anyone on the STM boards has actually found any success in Sitescout.

I realize the extreme levels of fraudulent sources are not actually "Sitescout's fault" and they are simply a source of arbitrage.

That being said, has anyone been able to determine any decent placements within their sources that perform past just a click?

If yes, what kind of CPM's were you having to bid to get decent impression placements.

Hey

I used sitescout like a half year ago and I managed to make like $300 a day running dating vertical.
There were a lot of shitty traffic and bot traffic.

I was on very tight budget back then so I tried to weed out the bad placements very quickly.

For me it was all about math. If math didn't work, I paused immediately. If offer EPC was like 0.20 and CPC were 0.35 I paused without thinking twice. This way I quickly weeded out bad targets. When I was left with good CPC targets, I spent like 2X of offer payout per target.

Social, dating, communication<- these were the best categories.
Stay away from websites which attracts young visitors.
Stick to targets with a lot of traffic. It's pain in ass to work with low visitor sites.

btw. I already had working creative which I had successively used on other source. Basically if you want test new targets you probably should already have a creatives which work decent. Test and optimize on proven target.

Good luck
