How to leverage my time? (experienced am plz help)

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem ... I can't focus on the things that bring me more money because I have some kind of distraction everywhere and I got to cut them.

I'm looking to leverage my time for the thing that are time consuming and not bringing me money in my pocket.

Exemple: finding picture - creating banner - creating landers - accounting etc...

I rather focusing on managing campaign - creating new campaign.

I know I can hire VA for 400-800$ a month but I don't feel confidant that they would do the job that I ask correctly ... I don't want to spend my time telling them what to do and what is wrong ...

I want to be able to use something like dropbox ..

exemple : I have a new campaign that I want to launch ... I tell him the details I ask him to create 10-20 banners 3-4 landers and put everything in dropbox and when it'S ready I pick it and use it.

I know nothing about leveraging my time and I want some tips because I think when you start leveraging your time the right way you can start focusing on the right thing that bring you more money.

I heard Tim Ferris had a nice book (I'll buy it and read it).

Please leave your tips and how you work to leverage your time and what kind of task your VA do for you and how you work with him.

Thanks!

PS: I would really appreciate detailed answer - giving 1 thanks to each of them

Hi,

The best advice I could give you, if you're looking for a detailed answer would be to read "The E-Myth" from Michael E. Gerber

Hey laverdure,

I personally have a VA, she's a native american and serious girl i knew back in barcelona, that's why i felt confident employing her and I pay her a good full-time salary too, but i understand your concerns about VA's productivity and you worrying ending up spending more time explaining them what to do.

As for the "system" I use do.com ( free ) which works wonders in sync with google docs/google drive !
I've tried several cloud & todolist services and this is by far the best combination i found for this type of outsourced work.

Also think about fiverr.com when you have really small jobs like find pictures, crop pictures etc .. you'll easily find people to do it for 5$.

You need to get rid of everything that doesn't excite you really, to focus on the parts that stimulates you the most, you'll see your productivity and focus increase dramatically.

best of luck!

Mehdi

The problem with outsourcing to a single employee and asking him to create ads, landing pages and etc is that he needs to be very loyal - or he will quickly take any winning ideas to his own portfolio. You can 'hide' your success from him, but that only works to a certain extent. There's no smoke without fire. What you ask for every day is what you are making money from, so again, there has to be trust there.

The advice I typically give to those struggling with time balance is to create a spreadsheet and record EVERYTHING you do for an entire week. There are plenty of timesheet templates online. Treat it like you are going to bill a client at the end of the week.

Once you've gathered data from an entire week, you can begin to scrutinise the areas of works that are causing bottlenecks. I often find that it isn't the areas that I expect.

For example, it's easy to assume that hunting down images is preventing you from getting more campaign work done - but is it really? Are you searching and gathering properly? Are you creating a library of good images and deleting those that don't work after testing? You should be. Staying organised prevents you from repeating trivial tasks.

I often find that I'll spend an hour thinking about a task and then just 30 minutes actually doing it. In those scenarios, it's not your work day that needs to change - or the lack of manpower. It's the lack of willpower.

Only when you know that you're working at your full capacity should you consider hiring somebody else - unless you have money to burn!
