so i signed up to maxcdn and have it all setup but the question that is puzzling me is this. Do i need to change all my destination urls at the traffic sources to point to the landers with the CDN url? if thats the case then shit im out of luck with tons of approved campaigns and destination urls. If i dont have to change the destination URLs then im gold.
You don't have to.
I host my .php or .html files on my server. Then I host all the other files on the CDN. Images, css, scripts, etc. so they pull down as fast as possible.
but the actual page sits on my domain.
i'm no CDN expert btw. but this way works like a champ for me.
I use my CDN the same way.. All PHP pages on my server, heavy size elements: images/video/css/js on the CDN..
Also, if you ever want to change your domains without going through reapproval you can set up a CNAME that points your existing domain to the new.
Same setup as profitable.
CDN not able to process php script, right ?
ok cool so i dont need to change destination urls and if i am paranoid about it then i can just setup a CNAME
sounds good
thanks guy
Be sure to test hosting static content on maxcdn against hosting from your server. We've found (especially with maxcdn) that hosting files on the server are actually faster. A lot of the CDN are bargin bin servers with cheap bandwidth, they are more of a *file hosting* service now than *content distribution*.
Remember, you ARE getting what you pay for and that's it.
check out rackspace cloud, it uses the akamai network, google and facebook use akamai, i just put all my static page assets on there and it feels like im browsing a ripped lander on my c drive, i did a traceroute and the assets are served from a server at my isp. so its mega fast and low hops.
posting from my phone and its hard to type please excuse my typos
Rackspace is great!
If you use rackspace and your on a mac you should use cyberduck as ftp client. It has the rackspace cloud files features build in. Works like a charm.
