Time to start my 30 Day facebook challenge.
I launched my first campaign today.
It is a printable coupon offer with a payout of $1.30. I will be surprised if I can get it to be profitable with such a low payout but we'll see.
Its open to the US only and the suggested bid for a reach of 122,000 was 0.80 - 2.49.
I targeted Married females with an interest in extreme couponing between the ages of 34 and 35.
I had heard that its best to bid on the lower end of the suggested so I bid $0.80 with a daily budget of $20
I'm not really sure what reach I should be targeting as I've heard and read different advice on this subject so I'll see how this goes.
I'm going to launch a dating campaign tonight or tomorrow morning as well.
0.80 per click on a $1.30 payout?
The offer has to convert on 50% then. If not, it doesn't make sense running it. Even if you can get superb CTR, it will get your cost down to $0.30 (say), You still need 1 conversion per every 3 clicks.
You think there is any point running it then? I had heard daily deals and these type of offers did well on Facebook.
Just from those numbers, I would say it is going to be pretty hard to get that profitable. Just keep in mind to try to run every test with a purpose and learn from the data. If you ran this you would probably learn to help you with future campaigns. That being said you could find campaigns that would have a higher chance of turning profitable.

Well here are the stats after 1 day... lol

Looks like I'll have to raise the bid to gather more data.
Well... It doesn't look good at all.
Firstly, your ctr is really low...
Secondly, as my previous reply stated, the CPA itself is very difficult to work for you at this bids...
well... good luck.
Well basically I've been a lazy idiot and haven't launched anymore campaigns since I last posted, I feel ashamed
Oh well, time to kick this back into gear!
I have created two dating campaigns and am waiting for approvals. One is targeting mature men and one targeting mature women.
The male one is in the US and the offer is Mature Singles Click with a payout of $6.30. I'm targeting males between 55 and 58 and have a reach of 140,000. I'm worried that the targeting is too broad but I guess I'll see how it goes.
For the female offer I'm using Seniorpeoplemeet with a payout of $5 in Canada. I'm targetting females between the ages of 41 and 53 and the reach is 180,000.
I'm really just looking for high converting images at this stage but I'm unsure as to whether I should just duplicate the campaigns to test more images as I've read that having anymore than 5 different ads/images in one campaign is a waste of time as one of them will end up taking all the impressions?
I am bidding on the lower end of the suggested bids for both campaigns at/.78 for the male and 0.68 for the female one. Is this too low?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Well my ads got disapproved so I've been figuring out how to do php redirects so I can change the ad link from the offer preview to my affiliate link once they get approved.
Also seniorpeoplemeet has a red wot rating so I'll have to look for a new offer.
Now my ads are getting disapproved within seconds of me submitting them!?
Anyone know why this is? They aren't even listing a reason, its blank and the emails just say:
One or more of the adverts you set up do not meet our guidelines and has been disapproved.
Please check your Adverts Manager and edit any adverts that have been disapproved. Your account was not charged for adverts that were not approved.
Reason(s):
For more information, please read our Terms of Use and Advertising Guidelines.
Thanks again for choosing Facebook Adverts.
Turns out I needed to edit the images by a pixel or 2 because they had been stored by facebook and that is why i had been getting my ads disapproved straight away.
If I'm honest mate, I'd fully scrap the idea of running offers at this stage in your chosen demograph. Pick an easier demograph to learn from, US/UK/NZ/AU are all way too competitive for someone that's just starting out in the world of ppc. The bids & cpc are way too high and it's going to be an expensive learning curve. If your 100% set on dating however I'd try POF as this is a really easy platform to learn & it will help you get a much better understanding of how PPC & offers work.
Goodluck
Thanks for the input mate, much appreciated. I am going to stick with Facebook until I crack it though. My biggest problem in trying to make it in this whole PPC/Internet marketing world is that I've kept jumping around between traffic sources, demographics and offers. Facebook has been recommended as a good source to start with in the STM Newbie guide.
I will think about what you said though and do more research into international offers and markets. What would you say is an easier demographic, more niche offers? Not quite sure what you mean by that.
Your definitely correct with sticking to 1 traffic source, a lot of people make a bad habit of jumping around which gets them nowhere.
What I mean by easier demograph is: Somewhere with cheaper traffic e.g. Spain, France e.t.c. Use http://www.onehourtranslation.com/ to do your translations and you should be set.
Thanks a lot mate
