Minimum Offer Payout For Media Buying?

Hey guys, I'm just testing sitescout/media buying as we speak. I chose to run IMVU, however I'm thinking it's probably not the best offer to be starting with because of the low payout. $2.25 :\ That means i would need an eCPA of >$2.00 seems pretty difficult/not worth it.

My challege has been trying to find an offer to test & practice with. I am thinking i should switch to dating since the CVR is probably similar, and just has a higher payout.

So guys that have been doing this a while, is there a certain payout threshold you won't dip below when it comes to buying media?

Hey, just remember higher payout usually takes more from the user for it to convert.

When starting with sitescout it's usually easier to keep it very niche, ie. target one or 2 sites, maybe even contextual targeting too and work hard at that ctr. On many s/s sites it's possible to get 1 or 2 cent clicks if you work at it.

Right now I'm running a 0.60c payout offer on sitescout sites and it's just shy of 100% roi, so try and think easy user conversion path rather than high offer payout.

Just my 2 cents anyway, hope it helps

i definately hear u on the "Easy user conversion" thats why i thought dating as well. The problem is that the ad placements i'm running now are "Unkown" and my new ads (which are pretty good) are getting the same CTR as the old, so i'm thinking it's probably BTF

Man, it depends. Lead-gen IMO is the shiznit. Find some nice offers, and throw up ads on either A) pages that pre-sell the offer (hint hint, on-topic news articles that show ads....) or create a lander/advertorial that pre-sells whatever your pushing.

IMVU is an amazing offer, especially internationally. Don't look at payouts, look at EPC. You can get $0.50 to $0.60 EPC if you run some good creatives.

If you hit me up on PM I can point you in the right direction in terms of ads.

I wouldn't recommend worrying about payouts very much. All that matters is that you can bid at a CPM high enough to win impressions while remaining profitable. If your ads have a very high CTR or the offer has a very high conversion rate (as is common with low payout offers), you'll be okay.

As a very general rule of thumb, it's usually not a great idea to buy inventory at a CPM higher than an offer's payout. I wouldn't encourage someone to run a $5 payout offer on $6 CPM inventory. That is, it's hard to get more than 1/1000 impressions to convert. Other than that though, it's just a matter of testing.
